Mrs. Wareham was a wonderful, caring, gentle lady. We sang in St. Michael and All Angels choir together with my daughters. She took a special interest in us and encouraged us in every way. She will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.

A Gracious Lady and a Great Educator has passed away and the world is that much poorer. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.
Father Mike Horlick

Aunt Alice always brought love and peace to this world and we need it now more than ever. She was lst cousin to my grandmother but we always knew her as Aunt Alice.

Having lost her treasured husband in an airplane crash during the War after only one weekend of marriage, I can now think of her having the reunion for which she has waited all these years.

God Speed, Aunt Alice. This world already misses your energy of peace and love. Hers has been a well-lived life which has brought only goodness to others and to the world in general.

Another great educator has passed away. She was my Grade eleven English teacher at St. Michael’s in 1957.,and I will always remember her giving us an essay during the St. John’s ice storm called” the lighter side of the blackout”. She was a great teacher, strict but fair and very well respected. Sincere condolences to the family

To the members of Alice Wareham’s family,

Mrs. Wareham taught me in Grade 11 and some years later we were on the Staff at Bishops College. Alice was a kind and personable person, a good teacher and well respected. She always had that wonderful smile.
Please accept my condolences. May she rest in peace and dwell in the Paradise of God.

To the Wareham Family

I was saddened yesterday to hear the news of the death of a remarkable and admirable lady , Alice Wareham. She and my Dad, Harry Wells, were 1st. cousins, and over the years she was always referred to as Cousin Alice. Her visits to my family home here in Glenwood were looked forwarded to and enjoyed by my parents.
In the school year 1957-58 I attended Bishop Spencer College, and enjoyed many a Sunday evening supper at her home. After my marriage, we kept in contact, and she continued to show interest in my family. We exchanged letters each Christmas and Monday night I read the last letter she wrote me.
I visited her at her home when I went to St. John’s, and later at Chancellor Park. Even in her latter years she continued to be the refined lady she always was.
After a life well lived, she is now at rest.

My brother, Bob Wells, is currently out of the country, but I know I speak for him when I send condolences as well on his behalf.

To Alf, Elizabeth and the Wareham family:

On behalf of all the “girls” of Spencer Lodge/Bishop Jones Memorial Hostel, where Alice was a resident in 1935-36, I wish to extend deepest condolences. Alice lived a full life doing what she loved. I’m sure her many students remember her with fondness. May God Bless and Comfort you in the days ahead.

Shirley Morris Cooper, Communications, Spencer Lodge/Bishop Jones Memorial Hostel Committee

So sorry to hear this sad news today. She was a fine admirable lady. My condolences with the hope that we will meet again one day

Deepest sympathy to the Wareham family, and relatives

Alice and my dad were 1st cousins, but she and cousin Father Joe were a close part of our family. Alice was a remarkable woman; a pioneer in many areas. When you talked with Alice, she gave you all of her attention and this is why she was such an extraordinary teacher. A lady with ruth, compassion and grace; a lady to be admired.

Have many fond memories of Aunt Alice when she used to visit us on the shore. Also a few trips to Morten’s Harbour. She was such a smart and wonderful lady. Susan Stark

The Pomeroy family have wonderful memories of this very special lady. Happy to know that she is finally at peace. Hugs to the family.

I have very fond memories of Alice and have known her since I was about 8 years old, Firstly as a member of St. Michael’s Choir, then as my Vice-Principal and then as a friend. I always admired her and she was such an intelligent and gentle lady.

Mrs. Wareham was Vice Principal at Bishops College while I attended there. A lovely lady, strict but fair – certainly a credit to her profession for sure. My condolences to her family and friends.

She was my 1st year English prof at MUN. In 1970. She did the Attendance. I stated my name ‘Wayne Hann’. She stopped and asked where I’m from and if I’m related to the Hanns in Port Royal. I told her my father (Norbert) was born and raised there. She was so pleasant and interested in my family. And as a young person from Placentia Bay enrolled at the age of 17 at MUN and uncertain with the new surroundings she made me feel welcome. And such a great prof. She influenced me as a young student. May she Rest In Peace.

Condolences to the family….sweet memories of this lady as she was my vice principal at Bishop’s College back in the 60s….she left a great legacy…May God comfort and bless her family

Mrs. Wareham was one of my teachers at St. Michael’s School and at Bishops College . I have always had great respect and admiration for her , and I like to think that she had an influence on me in my career ! What a literature teacher she was ! I can vividly remember her , black robe flowing , with the red literature book lying open in her left hand , reading /reciting for us ‘Ozymandias of Egypt’ ! I think she knew it by heart !! “The Assyrians came down like a wolf on the fold …..” comes to mind ; I think of that poem and its Iambic Pentameter whenever I think of Mrs. Wareham . She was one of the best teachers I ever had ; she was strict but very fair in her dealings with the student body . It was a privilege to have been one of her students .

To Alice Wareham’s Family
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you with the passing of Alice. We always thought of her as a very dignified and principled lady since our first meeting as teachers at Bishop’s College!
Rest in peace Alice.

Aunt Alice was not only my aunt, but also my godmother. She was a wonderful influence on me, especially when I attended Bishops.
I send all of those closest to her, my sincere condolences. She is now at rest after a life well lived.

Please accept heartfelt condolence. With sympathy.

Aunt Alice was a wonderful person. My driver to school when I attended Bishop’s.. Rest in peace.

At this time we remember Aunt Alice with great fondness. She was a lady in every way. We shared many great birthday parties together over the years. Now our grandchild is reading books she gave our children and our Christmas Tree has ornaments we received at their birth. We will be having a Scotch tonight with “not too much water” in her memory.
