Obituary

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the Lane family announce the peaceful passing on October 28, 2019, of retired RNC Lieutenant, Edward George Lane, age 72 years. Predeceased by his father Dorman, mother Hattie Mae, and brother Keith. Edward was married to Elizabeth (nee Clarke), the love of his life, for 48 years. He was the proud father of two loving daughters and two precious grandchildren whom he dearly loved. Left to mourn with so many beautiful memories are his wife Elizabeth, daughters Leanne (Paul Kavanagh) and Sheri (Dennis Conway), grandchildren Catherine and Lloyd, brothers Dave (Anne) and Paul (Charmaine), sister-in-law Rachael, special nieces and nephew, along with a large circle of extended family and friends.

The Lane family would like to extend a special thank you to April Adams and Dr. Jamie Farrell who provided care, love, and support to the family for many difficult years. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, October 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Kenmount Road Anglican Cemetery. Flowers or donations to the Children’s Wish Foundation are gratefully accepted.

A family is a circle of love, not broken by a loss, but made stronger by the memories. We are forever grateful that God blessed us with you.

Elizabeth, Leanne and Sheri.
I was very sad to hear of Ed’s passing. The dull (well not that dull) roar of the Lane brother debates has certainly gotten quieter in the last year. What a profound loss for you all. I know he was proud of you all and loved you dearly.
His suffering is over and I’m sure he would take comfort in knowing that you will take care of each other. He will be missed.
Love
Bev Lane (Vancouver)

Elizabeth, LeAnne, Sherry and family,

Sheri, Leanne and Elizabeth. There are really no words that are adequate for such a time so I will share a memory instead;
When I graduated from University Dad was in the Miller Center and Peter was temporarily back in Ireland. Pop stood in his place at convocation and then I headed down with Mom to the Miller Center in all my university garb to spend the afternoon with Dad. I hadn’t seen Uncle Ed in a few months but when I got home that night and pulled into the driveway I heard a door open. It was your Dad and he was there with a Dozen roses to congratulate me on my graduation. I don’t know how long he was waiting there for me to come home that night but I do remember how blown away I was by his thoughtfulness. I have thought of that moment often. The times we spend together with family need not be vast to be impactful. He was a truly wonderful person and I know that he is up there looking after his little brother as always.

Paul…and families…Both Roger and I are so saddened with your news…life is certainly so fragile……gives a new meaning to living life one day at a time….and enjoying every moment..our thoughts and prayers are with you..my mom also sends her thoughts..
