Obituary

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Hospital on Monday, November 5th, 2018, Eliza Isabella Hammond, aged 87 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Eric (2000) and son Rev. Peter (2018), and brothers Billy, Herbie and Charlie. Leaving with fond and loving memories son Herb (Josephine), daughter Helena Churchill (Freeman); daughter in law Elaine Beckton; cherished grandchildren David (Carmen), Bradley (Darcel), Paul (Laurie), Jessica, Brittany (Patrick Gear), Ashley and Cody; great grandchildren Matthew, Jacob, Caitlyn, James, Monica, Leah, Kaitlyn, Kaylea and Ameria; step grandchildren Monique, Mylah, Jennifer and George; Step great grandchildren Zoey and Jace; sister Sadie Porter (Ed) and sister in law Shirley Street. Also, a special circle of relatives and friends. A special thank you to her cousin Jane Clarke and Rev Amanda Taylor, as well as the staff of St. Clare’s ICU and 4 West, for their care and compassion shown towards her in her final days. Also, the staff and residents of North Pond Manor and St. Luke’s Homes for their care and friendship. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 8 from 11-9 p.m. and Friday, November 9 from 10-1230 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday November 9 from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove, at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at St. Lawrence Anglican Cemetery, Bauline Line Ext. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eliza’s memory may be made to St. Lawrence Anglican Church or St. Luke’s Chapel Fund.

Aunt Helena, Uncle Herb, Elaine and families I am sorry to say I am unable to make it home to share in the celebration of Grandmother Hammonds life. But please know that my heart and prayers are with you now in this time of sorrow. Nan was a very sweet loving soul who will be surely missed by all who where blessed to know her.
I am so grateful that she got to meet my kids and they got to meet her and remember her kind demeanour.
