Florence Marjorie Pippy

September 26, 1933 to May 9, 2019

Obituary

It is with very heavy hearts we have said goodbye to our precious matriarch Florence Marjorie Pippy (Greenland) age 85 on May 9, 2019. Predeceased by her daughter Kristina, husband Douglas J Pippy, parents Harry and Winnifred Greenland, sister Jean (Gerald Boyd) and brother Dave.

Leaving with wonderful memories, daughters Pam (Todd Noseworthy) and  Sharon, grandchildren Joy (Mike),  Sam,  Ayla (Mike), Mark (Erika),  Alex (Meghan) and Claire, great grandchildren Maddie, Luke, Jake and Max, sister in law Sharon (Ches Pippy) dear niece Judy Boyd and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Always gracious and with a gentle spirit, Florence lived a full life and maintained her wonderful sense of humour throughout.  She found beauty in art, music, and literature, and appreciated the small simple things like the beauty of our Newfoundland landscape with its fascinating rocks, berry picking, and of course, family.

She was an avid volunteer and a huge supporter of the burgeoning Newfoundland arts community in the 60’s and 70’ and 80’s. She helped many young artists get their start.

Florence was a baker! Cakes, bar cookies and cobblers were her specialty and her family always looked forward to her almost daily treats especially the cherry cakes and lemon bars.

She loved her regular games of bridge along with her bridge crowd (who were amazed that she never organized the cards in her hand).

The family would like to thank the staff at Tiffany Village who made her last few years comfortable and who showed such care and compassion. We would like to express our deep gratitude to Karen, Mary, April, Liz, Girlie, Rosa and Alicia along with Dr. Penton and the other staff members and residents.

Florence’s biggest adventure is starting now and we know her daughter Kristina is there waiting to show her the marvels of the cosmos and answer her many questions.  Safe travels precious mother, wife, sister and friend. We love you to the moon and back!

Cremation has taken place. There is no visitation.  Florence’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life  which will be announced at a later time.
