Aunt Gert, we were so sorry to hear of Hughies passing. Wish we could be there at this time, but we are in Alberta visiting the kids. Hughie was a very sweet man. He always reminded me the he has the same birthday as Justin. I’m sure he will be missed. Please know that Dave and I are thinking of you at this time. Love to you. Xoxoxo ❤

I grew up in Renews just up the road from Hughie, he was a great guy and I am sure will be missed by many. I havn’t seen him in years but send condolences to those left behind. May he rest in peace.

My heart was so shocked and saddened to hear of Hugh’s passing or Hughie as he introduced himself every time we spoke on the phone. He had a big heart you could tell and he enjoyed life, especially his treasured trips to PEI with ‘Gert’ who he mentioned often. They loved those visits and the friends who were more like family to him. We always small talked and he would never let us end the conversation with ‘Goodbye’ rather ‘So Long’ indicating we would speak again soon. He always ended our conversations with “Drive safely when you go home today to your family”. Oh! but I will miss his calls and our little chats. “So Long and rest in Peace, dear Hughie.”

I’d never met Mr. Westcott (Hughie) in person but spoke to him often. He was a kind gentle soul who I enjoyed chatting with. He always ended our conversations with well wishes to my family and to please drive home safe at the end of the day. He spoke so highly of all the people he mentioned especially ‘Gert’. One thing that I will ALWAYS remember that Mr. Westcott taught me was to never say ‘Good Bye’. It was a such a permanent thing. So I hope his wonderful family and circle of friends believe that as well because it is so important. We will miss him dearly! But we know this is not good bye. I pray for all his family at this sad time and may all his wonderful memories bring you all a bit of peace.

So Long Mr. Westcott…..Take care and be safe on your way home….

Dear Gertrude , I’m sincerely grateful for the great memories of you and Hughie ,I know that you are surrounded by many caring and loving family and friends to help you through this journey, I am sorry that I can not be with you in person at this time but rest assure that my heart is with you during this difficult time. Grant.
