Obituary

Passed peacefully away on Monday, April 19th, James Leslie Thistle (b. July 24, 1931). Predeceased by wife Mary (2018), son Jim (2016) and granddaughter Gwendolyn (2011), brothers David and Eric. Leaving to mourn daughter Laurie Ryan (Terry, deceased), daughter-in-law Barbara Thistle, and Jan Dicks, grandchildren Wendy Russell, Stephanie (Brad) Greer, Paul Thistle (Lesley Pike), Michael Thistle, and Rachel Thistle, great-grandchildren Olivia, Andrew and Grace Russell, and Ethan Greer, plus a large circle of family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit and unflagging humour. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Hillcrest Estates as well as staff of 4 South B, Health Sciences Complex. A graveside ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 21 at 11:30 a.m., at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. No flowers by request; donations may be made to Bridges to Hope – 39 Cookstown Rd, St. John’s, NL A1C 4G7.

My condolences on Jim‘s passing. He was a Great friend to my parents Fred and vera Evans. I also new Jim and worked with him for a time as well as spent time with Jim and Mary in Florida. Jim is a lovely man.

I’m so sorry to hear of Uncle Jim’s passing. I will always remember him with his quick wit and big smile. As a young fella I remember going to the cabin and out for a run in the boat. Great times..great memories.
