Denise, Kim and Family,

Life goes by so fast. When I heard of Jim’s passing I took time to reflect on the good memories both our families shared over the years. We have many fond memories of fun times and celebrations. Jim, Denise and Donna were instrumental in my getting a summer student job with government in the Dept. of Fisheries back in 1981. It is golden opportunities such as these that most young people need in order to continue on with an education and career in our home province (which I love).

I learned a lot about politics by watching Jim Morgan’s political career unfold. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work for 30+ years throughout the public sector of our province; and to have met so many fabulous people along the way thanks to a few fine people having my back, looking my way and giving me a chance in life.

Kim, I watched you grow up, you were like a little sister to us. You have turned out to be one beautiful human being who I respect and admire.

Denise, I love you a lot. I have so many memories of fun times, laughter, the girl’s trip to Ottawa and Quebec, and Ma Mere’s and your sisters’ visits to Newfoundland and purchasing my first used car, the yummy delicious Christmas dinners at Mom’s and Dad’s and the men’s power naps after the big feed. I could go on…a lifetime is so short – I want to say ‘thank you’ Jim and Denise for your support and all of the great memories – it takes a community and your family was definitely a part of my community.

May you feel the warmth of loving kindness throughout these tender hours. May Jim’s spirit be free to soar.

Love,
Daphne MacNeil

Denise and family,
Sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I have many memories of time spent with him as we served in the House of Assembly together.
He made a great contribution to our province as a dedicated person to the people he represented and in particular to the fishery of our province.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
Milton and Joan Peach

Sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

So very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. Didn’t realize that he became ill enough to be admitted to long term care. I can imagine that was extremely difficult on everyone as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all now. Rebecca and I have many fond memories of your time in Cupids. We had planned to visit yesterday before getting the news that a close family member was admitted to palliative care. Our hearts are heavy as well. Take care and God Bless.

Enjoyed many a stimulating conversation with Jim over the years. We were so sorry to hear of his passing.. Sending our deepest condolences to his family and friends. R.I.P. Jim

Kim, Denise, and family,
I am so sorry for your loss., The memories that we have as kids will remain always. In late years, I would run into your dad at Tim Horton’s and the first thing he would say to me is, “ Carolyn, I see ya running all the time, staying in shape “ . He always had a HUGE smile on his face and our childhood memories will last a lifetime of him. He was just so fun and a dad to all of us!

To my dearest friend Kim, I am so sad to hear of your Dad’s passing. I have so many fond memories of our teenage years and sleepovers at your house. He would always laugh and make jokes of us “getting ready to meet up with our boyfriends!”.
To you, Your Mom (Mrs. Morgan), Bill and the boyz… I am thinking about you all and sending my heartfelt sympathy and my love. xox
Raynette (Soper) Russell
Darryl, Jordan and Emily

Denise, Kim and family, Helen and I are so sorry to hear of Mr. Morgan’s passing. We have many fun memories of Jim, at the Haines home. Our prayers are with you.

Helen and Keith King

Dear Mrs. Morgan and Family,
While we have not met I had the good fortune to come to know Jim and eventually work with him in the 1970s in persuading the government of the day to pass legislation legalizing the practice of denturism in our province. Jim always had a great sense of fair play and when he took on a cause he did it with real gusto and logic.. Jim’s help in that regard was greatly appreciated by my denturist clients and he is fondly remembered by them.

Aunt Denis, Kim and family, I am sad to hear of uncle Jim’s passing. Although I only got to meet him a few years ago for the first time, he left a wonderfull impression. I will never forget our visit and chats with him. He was one of a kind. RIP uncle Jim.

To the Morgan Family:

I send my deepest sympathy on the passing of Jim. I worked along side him in the Department of Transportation when he was minister of that department. I recall how our work day would get started as soon as he entered his office – it was action immediately. He was a dedicated worker and a great constituency man. When he was in meetings, he would buzz out and say “hold all calls except any from my wife and constituents”.
Wishing you comfort and courage to face the days ahead without Jim and loving memories to hold in your heart.

Bertha Rose

So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We have great memories from Eastport, Glovertown, and Mollock St. in St. John’s. Treasure your memories..

Jan(Samson) and Fred Stuckless

I am deeply saddened by the news of Jim’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Denise and Family,
We are so saddened to hear of Jim’s passing! Always enjoyed conversations with him over the years , he was very knowledgeable and a thinker.
We know that you will share many fond memories of Jim as you celebrate his life with Family and Friends.
Blessings,
Doug and Jean

I was very sorry to hear of Jims passing. I grew up on Cowards Island and we attended school together. I did see him a few times after, but our paths sent us in different directions. It was Jim who concvinced me to follow the PC party, when you lived near Memorial Stadium many years ago. I followed his illustrious career with pride in a “little ” boy from a tiny Island. My condolences to Denise, Kimberly and family, may the memories live on in your heart.

Joan and I were saddened to learn of Jim’s passing. As friends, work colleagues (Canadian Marconi), and political allies we enjoyed many years of friendship.
Denise , you are in our thoughts at this time.

My Tribute to James Morgan

I first met Jim Morgan back in the late seventies when he was Fisheries Minister in the Peckford Government.

We were in the process of trying to get a Marine Service Centre in the Green Bay South area, after a long time we were successful.

We had meetings with Jim after the anti-sealing group destroyed the market for seal products.

After Jim was finished with politics he formed an organization called Rural Rights and Boat Owners Association because the Federal Government had stopped Newfoundlanders and Labradorians from being able to get a cod to put on the table. Jim was President and I served with him for several years as Vice President. Some of us went out and got charged while protesting but we did get a food fishery and still do to this day, thanks a lot to Jim Morgan for his lobbying and persistence.

I knew Jim for close to forty years and I found him to be a good politician, one who was accessible, easy to talk to and was strait forward, a quality that is lacking in many politicians today.

I offer my sincere condolence to the family and was proud to have known him and to have him as a friend.

So long Dear Friend, Rest in Peace

(Ret) Capt. Wilfred Bartlett

I knew Jim during my time working with the House of Assembly in the 70s and 80s and also around PC Party events. Jim was always there to help his fellow Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and was an especially strong advocate for those in the fishing industry. As Minister of Fisheries, he worked tirelessly and passionately on their behalf. I also remember him as a very positive person who was always a pleasure to be around. Sincere condolences to his wife, Denise and daughter, Kimberley. RIP Jim.

The Morgan Family,
I followed and admired the political life of Jim when he was a politician and was a friend over the years and now want to express sincere condolences to his family on his passing. May memories of a life well lived help to lessen your sorrow..

I got to know Jim through my father. They were political colleagues. Even now when I hear his name, this lyric from ZZ Top’s song pops into my head: ” . . . every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man.” And that he sure was. Always like a stick of gum! 🙂 My condolences to the family. RIP Jim. I bet you’re the sharpest dressed man in heaven!

After a loved one passes, be encouraged by their passing and legacy. Instead of crying, live an inspired, spiritual and happy life like they did when they were here. Live each day with encouragement knowing that they are proud and smiling down on you from Heaven”
