Louise Mandville at the age of 84. Predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard; her parents Frank and Anastasia; her siblings Ellen, Edgar, Marguerite, Frank and Gerard. Also, her in laws Cyril, Steve, Ed and Catherine. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, her children: Linda (David Martin), Gerard (Kim), Leonard (Mary), Deborah (Pierre Vercheval), Keith (Sonja Norgaard), Mary Lee Smithers (David), Bonnie Sue McFarland (Rick), John. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Brian Mandville (Kristin); Meghan Mandville-Paul (Ryan); Katelyn Whittle (Brad); Matthew, Ian, David (Carmella) and Tessa Mandville; Samuel, Claire, and Catherine Vercheval; Christopher Schultz; Keaton and Makaela Smithers; Jake and Spencer McFarland; and treasured great grandchildren: Ewan Mandville and Scarlet and Weston Paul. Also remembered by her loving siblings: Jack Kean (Anita); Marie Marshall (Jim); Anthony Kean (Patricia). Brother-in-law George Mandville (Patricia). Remembered by many other close relatives and friends, especially her long-time kindred spirit Monica Manning and new-found friend Margaret Ollerhead. We are overcome with sadness at her passing, yet we celebrate the life she lived and reflect on the good times and all she sacrificed for our family. Family was her life and she reaped many years of joy watching who her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were becoming. Mom was a kind and selfless woman; she opened her heart and her home to many. She loved caring for others and always made room at the table for “stragglers”. Special thanks to all those who cared for Mom over the past few years. Visitation to take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, from 6-8pm Thursday, 1-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Church on Saturday, July 8th at 9:30am. A reception will be held at the Parish Hall following interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Newfoundland Alzheimer’s Society or The Children’s Wish Foundation.

What a beautiful soul Louise was! The picture above is a wonderful portrait of the grace, humility and joy she lived each moment of life with. A wonderful memory for me was simply having a cup of tea with Louise as she sipped hot water. She was totally present and engaged in talking with me. I always marvelled how she treated us teens as well as, maybe better than, adults who visited. Our heartfelt condolences to all the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Louise was an honour to know.

Dear Gerard, Linda, Leonard , and family ,

I am sorry to learn of the passing of your mother. Many say children’s character and successes are measured by the support given to them by their parents. Obviously your parents did a great job raising a big family, welcoming their friends, and that you made them proud. I am sure that you are left with treasured memories. Jack Drover

I don’t even know if I have the words to describe how sad I was to hear the news. My deepest condolences to you all. Louise holds a special place in my heart and has been like a mother to us all for many years. Even staying with her two trips home and how she went over and beyond to do absolutely everything for me to make me happy while i was there like making fish and brews, home made bread and even leaving to walk to zellers to get a george foreman grill because I said I wanted pancakes and she went to buy that to make them for me. She’s one special lady who will be missed by many. I hope your special memories help you through this difficult time. Love Elsie

Dear Mandville Family. Larry and I are heartbroken at the loss of dear Louise. As you all know, we were two of her “stragglers” and Louise and Len took us in and treated us like their own. As our children came along, it was Mother Louise who I turned to time and time again for advice and support..she was always there for us. And she never pulled any punches when she felt I was doing something wrong! When we moved to Mount Pearl and reconnected with her, once again she was there for us. Sometimes in life, if one is really, really lucky, we are blessed to have the rare love and friendship of someone who is truly special..in our lives (me, Larry, and our children), that person was Louise. May God Bless her and welcome her…He’s certainly gained a one-of-a-kind angel to help Him watch over us all. Sending our love and sincere condolences to you all. Love, Brenda & Larry Reid and Family.
