Marilyn Pike (nee Fitzgerald)

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marilyn Pike (nee Fitzgerald) at the age of 65 on Tuesday, June 2nd at the Health Science Center ICU after a short illness surrounded by her family. She is predeceased by her mother Edna G. Fitzgerald (nee Burton) and her father Felix Fitzgerald. Left to mourn and celebrate her wonderful life are her best friend and husband Dale, her son Matthew (Lindsay) and her sweet and precious grandson Hayden. She also leaves behind her siblings John (Cathy) Fitzgerald, sisters Carol (Jim) Eustace and Arlene Cake, her large extended family of brothers and sister in law, nieces, nephews, and many friends. We would like to thank the hospital staff at the Health Sciences Center ICU for their kindness, support, and care during this difficult time. Marilyn was a kind-hearted and caring person, always greeting you with her welcoming smile, a warm hug, and her effervescent spirit. Two of her most cherished pleasures of life were spending a day with her grandson Hayden and a saunter in the woods with her best friend surrounded by the smells and sounds of the fir trees in the wind. She will be dearly missed but has left behind many wonderful memories for her family to treasure. Due to restrictions imposed by COVID-19, a private memorial service will take place. Care is entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home on Freshwater Road.  Condolences may be made at the Carnell’s website and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Adoption Council of Canada.

Dale, Matt, Lindsay Hayden and the Pike and Fitzgerald families. We are so heartbroken by Marilyn’s sudden unexpected passing.. It is difficult to understand how our lives can change so fast and leave us with such an enormous loss. Marilyn always had a smile and hug for
you and she was so kind in so many ways. On many occasions sending me lemon squares or a meal or dropping off some berries as her and Dale were devoted berry pickers and her muffins were the best. One thing we shared which was the most special, was being grandmothers to our precious Hayden. She was a beautiful mother and when Hayden came into our lives she loved being Nana. Her smile was wider and her kisses many to this precious darling. I know that she will stay in their hearts forever always watching over them. Your own special angel will be smiling down on you and sending her love.

Uncle Dale, Matthew, Lindsey & Hayden

Dearest Marilyn, We are devastated and broken hearted that you had to leave us too soon, our little sister. We grew up together, the four of us, close in age we were playmates and friends. You were the spirited one, fun loving, happy, and the youngest, so we fussed over you more. As adults, we were more then siblings, we were also close friends, our lives and our families interconnected.
What will we now do without you? You were a bright light in our day.
We have to carry on, but we’ll cherish your memory always, keep you in our hearts, love you and miss you forever.
Until we can meet again, your loving brother John, sisters Carol and Arlene.

Dale,
Matthew,
John, Carol, Arlene and families,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Marilyn’s passing.
I have fond memories of our younger days when I lived with Aunt Edna, Arlene and Marilyn (Tiny) on Field Street. Arlene, Marilyn and I enjoyed bowling nights, girl nights out and we enjoyed lots of girlie giggles. Marilyn’s enthusiastic personality was always infectious. After I married and moved away we saw each other infrequently, usually at family events, but my treasured memories remain. I know the pain grief brings and my heart aches for each of you. Lloyd and I are thinking of all of you at this unbelievable and very sad time.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful Marilyn. I remember her smile and laughter and the way she could lite up a room and make you feel comfortable. My prayers are with you.

Marilyn was my aunt. As a child and teenager I spent much time playing at my cousin Matthew’s home. I became quite familiar with Marilyn as an aunt, a host, a mother, and a loving wife. I fondly recall how openly I was invited into her home on playdates and how well I was treated by her as a guest. I saw first hand the positive and profound effect she had one those around her.

My family and I are sending along our deepest condolences. She will be gravely missed but her smile will never be forgotten. Thinking of her and her family every day. Sending our love from Gregory, Nerissa, and Ryland.

We are heartbroken to know we will never see her beautiful smile and feel her heartfelt hugs again. She has been a beautiful part of our family for many years.
