Mary Margaret Thistle (Strickland) (nee Flynn)

March 24, 1923 to June 22, 2020

Obituary

A beautiful soul passed peacefully away today with her family around her.

Mom was predeceased by her husbands Ben Strickland and Bill Thistle.

She leaves behind with loving memories her children Rhonda (Sherrif) Stenhouse, Linda (Jim) Bartlett, Liz (Tom) Anderson, Ben Strickland, Patrick (Judy) Strickland, Madonna (Ambrose) Gale.  Her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren and special ‘daughter’ Linda McDonald.

A survivor of the Knights of Columbus fire, Mom faced every challenge in life with a smile and optimism, including the past weeks. Her great sense of humour and love of chocolate will be remembered by everyone who knew her.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff (Mom’s other family) at Cambridge Estates, also Loralee, Dr. Singleton, Natasha, Darlene and her friend Nina for their loving care of mom and all of us during this sad time.

Mom’s door was always open to anyone in need and she shared what she had with everyone her whole life.

In Memory of Mom, please do something kind for someone who needs it.

Mom has been cremated and a private family burial has taken place.

Because the love of a mother starts long before birth…it will last long after death.

To Patrick and family,
My sincere condolences on the death of your mother, a true lady. We always were honored by her presence(and your dedication in getting her there) at our yearly vigil at the Knights of Columbus monument. I had many chats with your mom over the years. Treasure the memories.

I will truly miss Mary and her beautiful smile, and her sense of humor. Every morning during the breakfast she always had a chuckle for us. Heaven has a precious angel now that loves her cup of tea and witty jokes about going to George Street. Forever in my heart, you touched so many of us.. Rest easy Mary.

To The Strickland Family::
My heart is heavy to hear the news of “Mother’s” passing.
I was blessed to share a special bond with her which circumstances nor time broke.
All of you have so many wonderful memories to keep close at heart. May these help you get through this difficult time.
I am sure by now she already has the “good” chocolate hidden and not in a night stand.
RIP Sweet Lady.
