Obituary

Passed peacefully away on December 23rd at Pleasantview Towers, our dear father and loving husband, Melvin Eric Maidment. Predeceased by his parents, Effie and Ralph Maidment; and parents-in-law, Agatha and Lawrence Parrell, brothers, Eldon and Harold Maidment, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron (Nellie), Leo (Edith), Lawrence (Patsy), and Mike Parrell; sisters-in-law, Alice Power (Cyril); Malita Gaulton and most recently (August 2019) his beloved son-in-law, Marvin Kean. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Parrell); his dear sister, Marie, and brother, Clayton Maidment, Children: Anna-Marie (late Marvin Kean), Peggy (Keith Doucette), John, Michael (Kathy Kirby), Melvin Jr. ( Rhonda); Grandchildren: Andrea, Darryl (Helen Dos Santos), Jordan (Mary-Beth) Kean; Andre (Melanie), Kyle (Suzie), Shayla (Paul Kirana), Vanessa ( Mark Caron), Elizabeth (Joel Reigner), Theresa, Joshua and Victoria Doucette; Soleil Dougan, Justin, David and Ryan Maidment as well as 17 precious great grandchildren, brother-in-law Pat (Georgina), and sisters-in-law, Jenny (George) Earl, Diane Maidment, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the staff of Pleasantview Towers for your loving kindness and great care, Melvin was so grateful for all. The family will be receiving visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home on Freshwater Rd. on Dec. 28 and 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from the Basilica Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, Military Rd. on Monday, Dec. 30 at 9:30 am. Donations can be made on his behalf to Diabetes Canada. Until we meet again, our prayer is that you Rest In Peace and that Eternal Light shine upon you.

Belated condolences from Edward and Beverly Escott. We were not aware of Melvin’s death when it occurred and we are so sorry for his family’s loss. He was a kind and generous soul and we will always remember him. May God keep Helen and family close.

My sincere condolences to the Family on the loss of your Father… To Anna Maria whose late husband CaptainKarvin Kean with whom I sailed overseas for many years on the Crosbie shipping company. To Peggy whose husband KeithDoucette is my Brother-In Law`s Nelson Doucette nephew. and all family members.
