Leaving to mourn his wife of 67 years and best friend, Kathleen (Kay) nee Clooney. He leaves 5 children, Carol Ann (Carl), Patrick (Donna), Gary (Donna), Bill (Jan), and Kathy. In addition, he leaves a brother, his best friend, John (Joan, deceased) and three sisters Geraldine Prim, Joan Hann (Cliff, deceased) and Helen LaHeist (Charlie, deceased), as well as brother-in-laws, Martin Clooney (Maureen) and Harry Megann (Rosemarie). Pat lived a full life. He and his brother, John owned and managed FJ Wadden for many years. He also enjoyed time with family and friends at Hogan’s Pond and St. Pete, Florida. He was happiest at the head of the dinner table, in lively conversation, as well as on the tennis court, as long as he was on the winning side.

Cremation has taken place, due to Covid protocols, no visitation is permitted. Hopefully this summer, a celebration of his life will occur. Anyone wishing to, can make a donation on his behalf to The Gathering Place.

Special thanks to the staff at Chancellor Park for their kindness and care.

“Oh, they say we have outlived our time Maggie

As dated as songs that we sung.

But to me you’re as fair as you were Maggie

When you and I were young.”

From his favourite song, When you and I were young, Maggie.

To all the Wadden family,

My sincere condolences on the passing of Pat Sr. or “ Pal” as he was so affectionately called. We were so fortunate to live next door to the Wadden family. Always lively interactions between the boys in particular, and. Pal always had a joke or a kind thing to say to us. Our family always remembers with fondness dropping over to the Wadden’s on Christmas Eve- mainly to hear the bantering between Pal and my brothers ! Dad loved the tennis games with him as well.
He was the father of a wonderful family, with a great partner, in Kay, and a businessman who contributed to our community . He will be missed for sure.
Love to you all

We were saddened to learn of Mr Wadden’s passing recently. I have many fond memories of him growing up and always remember him to be a kind, friendly and generous person. His greatest legacy is certainly the fact he and the lovely Mrs Wadden raised a wonderful family who all remain good friends. Our condolences to you all.

Mrs. Wadden, Carol Ann, Pat, Gary, Bill and Kathy,

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Like so many others, I remember your Dad for his openness and good humour. I always felt welcome in his presence as one of the many kids hanging around his house — first on Elizabeth Avenue and then on Rennies Mill.. Road. He was an exceptional person — thoughtful of others and with a gift for making them feel appreciated and special.

Gary and family,

I am so sorry to hear about your Father’s passing…. I’m not sure if I ever mentioned this, but many many many years ago – we were so very entertained in your Dad’s company. While staying in Florida with Janet Gardiner, a bunch of us went to a hockey game in Tampa!! Such an interesting and fun time.. We had a fun evening that’s for sure.

Sadly, John’s Mother has also just passed…. and she often spoke fondly of the Wadden family.

Thinking of you all at this time.

Carol Ann, Pat, Gary, Bill, Kathy,
Back in the eighties when my gallery first opened in the “new” hotel, your father and mother were regular visitors. Always the bon vivant with a big smile, he dropped in just top say hello when he, like everybody did at the time, had lunch at the hotel. He was occasionally a customer too, of course, but regardless, my manager, Carol, would always be sure to let me know later that “Mr. Wadden smiled his way in and said hello!” My condolences to you.

Dear Kay and family,
Our thoughts are with you all as we reflect on so many great summers on “the Pond” All of the Waddens made everyone welcome with kind generosity.
Pat was a unique character and we will miss him.
With our deepest sympathy

Mrs. Wadden, Carol Ann, Patty, Gary, Billy, Kathy,

So sorry to hear about Mr. Wadden’s passing. Growing up as a kid on Larch Place not far from the Wadden household on Rennies Mill Rd., I got to know all the Waddens and of course Mr. and Mrs. Wadden as well.

I first got to meet Mr. Wadden through my father’s business dealing’s with FJ Wadden and also my father and Mr. Wadden went to school together at St. Bon’s.

I remember as young kid’s myself and my brother , Johnny, would always look forward to going to the Waddens house on Halloween as Mr. Wadden always generously handed out the Big Turk’s and Turtle’s bars to the trick or treaters. Mr. Wadden would always have a nice chat with us and then he would say as we were leaving to say hello to our father for him. Mr. Wadden was always cheerful and pleasant with us every year we would make our stop at the best house in St. John’s for Halloween to see Mr. Wadden.

Later when both Patty and Gary were playing with the St. John’s Jr. Cap’s hockey team Mr. Wadden would invite Johnny and I to go watch the boy’s play and he would treat us to snacks as we watched the Wadden boy’s do their thing for the Cap’s

Mr. Wadden was a very nice man who was always polite and considerate when talking with me as child and then into adulthood.

Sad to see him go! God Bless Mr. Wadden and Family!

Dear Kay and the whole Wadden Family. My sincere condolences to you and the family. Mr. Wadden as I always called him was a gem in my eyes. I deliberately always tried to get his goat in all our business dealings but to no avail. Younger Patty would call me and say Dad is coming over for a check and when arrive, I would sit down in my office and delay giving him the due check. He was a gentleman and a mentor to me but sometimes I detected a sense of sarcasm, truly just for fun. I miss the times at Hogan’s Pond where Kay and he would entertain us with delicious food and Kay’s dessert, my favourite, chocolate coated strawberries. He always as he was the boss wanted to make sure he and the Hon. John Crosbie would play Paddy and I in the last tennis match of the night and he would brag if they happen to win or when we let them. I will thoroughly me u Sir and may the family and friends remember the fond memories. Again sincere condolences. RIP Mr. Wadden
