My wife Beverly and myself would like to offer our sincere condolences to Ray’s Family and close Friends.

I got to meet Ray through a mutual friend (Wayne Mercer-Whitbourne) over 40 years ago and ironically found out last night from Wayne that Ray had passed away.

Ray was a special and kind person who will always be remembered as such. His infectious smile was something that will always be in my memories.

Time does fly by but I wanted to reflect on a memory that comes to mind about Ray. Ray and Wayne Mercer were in Alberta for work and Ray was even at my wedding in Edmonton on November 8th, 1980. He and Wayne stayed at our apartment and I still think of the laughs and fun we had back then.

One story that comes to mind was we had a black Persian cat (Misty) who loved Ray and could sense his kindness. One night after a few Toddies when everyone went to bed, the cat went in Ray’s room and slept on his pillow with her paws hanging over Ray’s eyes. When Ray woke up in the morning he thought he’d gone blind when he opened his eyes and everything was fuzzy. He told us his first thought was how much we must have drank to go blind. We laughed at that story so many times and still brings a smile to my face.

Ray and Wayne gave us an assortment of wedding gifts and one was an ironing board that we still use to this day. I don’t think I will ever iron anything without thinking of Ray.

God Bless you Ray as you made a positive impact on everyone who had the pleasure to meet you. Heaven will be a better place with you there.
