Passed peacefully away at Palliative Care at the Miller Centre on Monday, September 9, after a brave and courageous struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Sylvia Florence (Tremblett) O’Connell at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by her father Albert Tremblett, mother Pearl Tremblett, and her sister Rita (Tremblett) Abbott. Leaving to mourn, her loving, devoted, and heartbroken husband of 50 years Michael; daughter Laura (Derek Noseworthy) and son Michael (Julie); and the joys of her life her grandchildren Nathan, Connor, Molly, Stephanie, and Sophie. Also left to mourn are nephew Dean Abbott (Darlene), niece Denise Abbott, and grandniece Hayley. Throughout her battle with the terrifying and dehumanizing horror that is ALS, she maintained her grace and dignity, and being the generous and self-sacrificing person that she was, never lost her sense of caring and compassion for others. She will be forever missed and remain in our hearts forever. Godspeed gentle soul ‘til we meet again. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road. Relatives and friends may visit the family from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral service will be held at Carnell’s Memorial Chapel at 2:00 on Monday, September 16. Inurnment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery on Blackmarsh Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
