Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Richard Mahon after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by wife Judy, parents Basil and Mary Mahon, sister Barbara Hibbs. Leaving to mourn are his daughters Charolette (Mark) Petry, Darlene Mahon, Trudy (Kaboss) Doucet, grandchildren, great grand children, brothers Maxie (Maxine) Mahon, Alex (Doris) Mahon, sisters Cecilia Engel, Helen (Kevin ) Warner, Beverly (Glenn) Vey, Jackie (Virden) Sears, as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Jimmy was surrounded by his close friends and family during his final weeks. A special thanks to Patsy and Laurie Dutton, Richard Mahon and Don Dyer for your endless support and friendship to Jimmy❤️ We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the palliative care unit at the Miller Centre for your compassion and care. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday February 18, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi, Outer Cove. Interment to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. Due to COVID -19 restrictions we ask that anyone who would like to attend service please email beverlyvey@yahoo.com or call 709-725-2711. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home.
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around you
and whispered “come to me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly
we could not make you stay.
That golden heart
stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts
to prove to us
He only takes the best.
Jim, you gave it your all to make it to today, your 72nd birthday. Sadly, it was not to be. As your family & friends gather today not to celebrate your birthday, but to celebrate your life, know that there is a large void in my life from our many, many hours of phone calls filled with so many laughs, and oh the reminiscing of days gone by.
Jim, may you forever rest in eternal peace. You were one of the best & taken far too soon.
