Obituary
Herbert Alexander Thorne, 61 (born April 23, 1963), passed peacefully away surrounded by his family on January 6, 2025. He is predeceased by his mother Marguerite, in-laws James and Theresa, and special friend Charles Somerton. Herb leaves to mourn his loving wife Theresa Moran and daughters Natasha (Matt) and Ashley (DJ); along with his siblings Linda (Neil), Mary (Aubrey), Sheldon, and Yvonne (Keith); his siblings-in-law Christine (Pat), Lenny (Mary), Sheila (Doug), and Jay, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, his uncle and his great-great nephew. He also leaves special friends and neighbours Betty Tarrant, Jim Parsons, and Fred Somerton (and their families), and many other friends and neighbours.
Herb will be remembered for his love to fish and the outdoors, and for his talent for building beautiful things, most especially his model boats. He would lend a hand to anyone and was such a kind and funny husband, father, uncle and friend.
Cremation has taken place. Family, friends, and others whose lives Herb has touched are invited to Carnell’s Funeral Home on Saturday January 11th, 2025 from 10am-9pm; with funeral service on Sunday, January 12th at 2pm in the St. Lawrence Anglican parish of Portugal cove.
Flowers are accepted and greatly appreciated, or donations in Herb’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice are welcome as well.

I’ve known Herb pretty well all my life when he first moved to the cove! We had a lot of good times together and drank a few cold ones in our day!
