Peter Major Templeton

October 2, 1928 to June 13, 2025

Obituary

Peter Major Templeton passed away peacefully in his 97th year. A devoted husband to Margaret (nee Pottle). Father of Joan, Debbie Collingwood (Peter), and John (Alexis). He was a proud grandfather to Tim, Sam, Susan, Danica, and Mathias, whose lives he touched with quiet strength and enduring love. A large group of nieces, nephews, friends, acquaintances and their families knew his presence.

Peter will be remembered for his gentle spirit, humorous nature and love for his family. His presence was a steady light, and his legacy lives on in the lives of those he held dear.

Peter was the youngest and last living child of Robert A. and Agnes Templeton. His siblings Robert, Anna, Agnes (Angel,) Jim, Allan, Isabel and David all gave him excellent role models to follow.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Tiffany Village and HSC.

Visitation to be held from 2-6p.m. on Monday June 16th at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road.  A service will be held in his honour at St. Andrews Church on Tuesday June 17th at 10:30 a.m. , with inurnment to follow at the General Protestant cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend a quiet moment remembering Peter — in peace, as he lived. Donations can be made in his name to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Templeton and Family,

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of going to your cabin in Seal Cove in my younger years. The meals that included the fresh vegetables from your garden were always so delicious.. Thank you for those lovely memories. Hugs to you all.

A wonderful man who lived a full life and raised a wonderful family. Who could ask for anything more. My condolences to all. Sorry that I missed the wake and funeral. I was away.

Peter, was such a welcoming neighbour. He came equipped with pictures and stories when we arrived at Rendell some eleven years ago. Chris and I often met Peter, usually coming or going to the mailbox. Lots of laughs, lots of history and always, a grand chat. Life changes but our time on Rendell will always be linked with warm memories of Peter and Margaret.
Thinking of you all.
Chris and Michele

My sincere condolences to all.
A beautifully long lived life.

My sincere condolences to John and the Templetons. I never knew “Uncle Peter” well but I do recall the few times I had the pleasure of meeting him at the shop or at a lobster dinner, he always expressed his sense of humour. At 97, I am sure there is no shortage of great stories and cherished memories you and your family will enjoy for ever.

Our sincere condolences to the Templeton family. We hope happy memories of his wonderful life will help you all during such a sad time. Thinking about you.

Debbie and family,
Your Dad was always the kindest. He had such patience for our noisy gaggle of girls and welcomed us at Rendell Place and Upper Gullies. He was a “Gentle”man. We were fortunate to know him.
Hope you can hold on to the wonderful memories.
Love,
Helen and Patrick Heneghan
