Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Francis Fisher, surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Devoted son of Lucy and Donald Fisher, a cherished brother, husband and a loving father and grandfather.
Clarence leaves to mourn the love of his life, Helen, to whom he was married for 66 years, his daughter Susan Lynn (Jerrod), his son, Stephen Robert (Mary Ann), his brothers, Kevin (Kathryn), Cyril (Medine), sister, Sandra Arsenault (Paul), 4 grandchildren, Mallory, Daniel, Lucas (Amy) and Ashley, sister-in-law Dixie Benson (Raymond) and brother-in-law Michael King (Patricia). Also, very special niece Cindy Lander Giffin (Paul), special nephews Rick Gibbons (Kathy), Tom Dillon (Denise) and Lloyd Pope (Judy) and many other nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends, family and neighbours. Clarence was predeceased by brothers Gerry, Ern, Don and sisters Doris, Marjorie, Ruby, Lorraine, Patsy and Barbara.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, from 2-5 p.m. A celebration of Clarence’s life will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carnell Memorial Chapel.

Dear Helen, Susan, Stephen and family, My sisters and I were deeply saddened to hear of Clar’s passing. My parents shared many fond memories and laughs with your parents, first as basement tenants and then, more importantly, to lifelong, cherished friends. The true measure of a person’s character is often found in the words others speak about them — especially when they’re no longer in the room to hear them. The kindness, respect, and love shared about your father’s character are written here for all to see. Surely he and my dad are enjoying a long awaited round of golf. Helen, Susan, Stephen and family, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved husband and father. I remember well meeting him through Tom and sharing meals at your home in the early 1980’s and being struck by not only his kindness and gentleness, but also his intelligence. I am only today aware of “Mr Fisher’s” passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I was honoured to be his secretary for many years at Fisheries and Oceans. He taught myself, and the other staff members some valuable lessons in economics! Always a gracious host who enjoyed company! I cherish my memories of those years. Bless you all! Take Care

Dear Fisher Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Clar’s passing. Though time and distance have kept us apart, I want you to know that Clar has remained in my heart all these years.
Clar was an extraordinary man—kind, wise, and full of life. During a pivotal time in my life, he showed me warmth and guidance that meant more than words can express. After losing my own father so young, Clar stepped in without even knowing it, offering presence and steadiness. His love for family and his joyful spirit left a lasting imprint on me.
While I’m unable to attend the service in person, please know that I am holding you all in my thoughts and sending love from afar. I think of you often and will always be grateful for the role Clar played in my life.

We are very sorry to learn of Clar’s passing. I knew from the time he worked at MUN and we later became neighbors in the Baird Subdivision, where we shared many pleasant moments chatting and reminiscing. My deepest condolences to his family. RIP, old friend.

I was heartbroken to hear of Clar’s sudden passing. We were so looking forward to seeing him next week for dinner and a visit. I have such fond memories of getting to know him during my university days while staying at the house. His passion and encouragement even inspired me to pursue economics, just as he had.
Clar was truly an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. May you find strength in the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind.
