It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Hodder, who peacefully passed away at the age of 78, on April 22, 2026, at Pleasant View Towers.
David was predeceased by his loving wife Sandra Hodder (Williams); his parents Francis and Harry Hodder; his parents-in-law Gwen and Victor Williams; and sister-in-law Heather Williams.
He will be lovingly remembered by; his daughter Christine Drachler (Martin); his son Bill Hodder (Tara); his cherished grandchildren Melissa (Adrian), Zach, Nathan, Finnely, and Alish; also survived by his brother Bob (Cynthia) Hodder; sister Shirley Atkins; and a large number of nieces and nephews along with extended family.
David’s family and friends will forever hold his memory close, remembering his warmth and kindness. The family would like to thank the amazing nurses and staff of Pleasant View Towers for their exceptional care over the last many years.
Donations can be made in David’s memory to the Shiners.
Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home on 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday April 28 from 2-4 and 7-9. There will be a service at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday April 29 at 11am.

So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. We had many chats whenever I saw him in Churchill Falls during my NL Hydro days. Such a fine man. My deepest condolences to his family at this difficult time.
Christine, Bill and all of David’s family – our deepest condolences on the passing of David.
We never had the opportunity to meet him in person, but we heard many great stories about him through Bill.

Dave was a kind soul who didn’t have a bad word to say about anyone. I worked with and for Dave. We had many chats over the years. I am saddened by his passing and send out condolences to Billy Christine and family. RIP Dave
To all of David’s family especially his siblings and cousins who I grew up with at st. David’s church my deepest sympathies and condolences. I was indeed very saddened to hear it. He was my cub and scout leader at st. David’s cub pack and troop during the mid 70s. In fact his ability to lead and influence a group of young people had positive and lasting effects on me and others more than anyone will ever know. He did it Soley as a volunteer and gave of himself even while studying for his engineering degree and his first employment in st. John’s before moving to Churchill falls. I still fondly remember all of the summer camps, fall , spring and winter hikes, the badge work, the teaching of outdoor skills like building leentoos out of boughs and sticks, knot tying….you name it. He even had the ability in his own way to help us and encourage us if we were struggling or if we needed sorting out. Again I’m so deeply saddened he will be missed greatly but will be fondly remembered.
