Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and many years of loving memories we announce the peaceful passing of Abraham Whitefield Kean at his residence at Tiffany Village, St. John’s, on January 29, 2021 at age 92.  Predeceased by his parents Abram and Elizabeth Kean of Badger’s Quay, in-laws Effie Ivany-Fifield and Robert Ivany; daughter Rosalyn; sons Tony and Keith.  Left to mourn his loss are his wife of 70 years Mabel; sister Anne White (Ray); brother Victor (Hazel); special nephews George Kean (Anne) of Badger’s Quay, Edward Kean (Marina) of St. John’s; niece Barbara Barter (Gerald) of Burgeo; a large circle of nephews, nieces, and friends; with special mention of neighbours Roy and Gerry Peach.  Extra joy in Abraham’s life was his pet dog, Sam. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Tiffany Village and Dr. Penton for their care and kindness during his illness.

At Abraham’s request cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

We have many happy memories of Abe when we were building our houses He was always a joy when he would drop over with advice or asnack or a pot of tea. So sorry to hear of Abe’s passing.I met Abe back in the mid 90’s as he did some carpentry work for me.He was like a true friend,honest and always gave great advice plus my dog sure did take a liking to him as well.RIP Abe

Sorry to hear of Abes passing. I met him first at the Salvation Army Camp many years ago and he was always smiling and asking everyone that he met if they were ok and if they were enjoying the camp. He was one of our kitchen staff for the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast and he enjoyed chatting to all of those in attendance. He was a good and gentle man and may God rest his soul.
