Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts the family of Alice Marie Kavanagh announce her passing on Tuesday, February 9 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, in the loving arms of her husband.

Predeceased by her parents Walter and Elizabeth Lacey; sister Sandra Dunne and infant sister Elizabeth; brothers-in-law Kevin, Phillip, William, Jack, Hubert, Bernard and Harold; sister-in-law Beverly.

Left with cherished memories her devoted husband of 42 years Andrew; son Andrew (Kelly) and their children Aundrea, Cassandra and Megan; daughter Darlene White (Gerry) and their children Gerry, Carly and Taylor; daughter Natalie Hammond and her son Nathan; great-grandchildren Gavin and Hailey; brothers Paul Lacey (Diana) and William Lacey (Penny); sisters Georgina Raworth (David), Peggy Simmons (Cyril – deceased), her best-friend Anne Lacey, Mona Slaney (Tom), Rosalind Hamilton 

and Mary Hann (Tom) and Ruth Ann Badrin (Bud); sisters at heart Teresita McCarthy (Des), Ruth Ann Entwistle (Ted); special friends Doreen, Margie, Jeannie and Patsy. Also left to mourn sisters-in-law Madonna Porter (Gerald – deceased), Marg Dalton (Phillip), Rosanne Tobin (Mike), Helen Neville (Ray), Deborah, Linda, Helena, Lol and Carmel Kavanagh; brothers-in-law Bren (Kathleen), Allen (Elaine) and Carl (Liz).

Cremation has been entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road. There will be no visitation. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Teresa’s Church, Mundy Pond Road, at a later date.

Special thanks to the caring nurses at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital for their kindness and wonderful care shown to Alice during her hospital stay, and to Fr. Melvin for his visits that were such a comfort to her.

 

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. Amen.

We had your funeral service yesterday it was sad but beautiful you would of been very proud we all miss you very much, you left a huge void that was so huge some of us are taking extra long to heal etc. Please give them to strength to move forward and enjoy life again. I love you mom #1

My condolences to a childhood friend and her family. The loss of your mother is one of the hardest to endure. May she RIP and leave behind her memories and the strength in her family to carry on and live your life the way she would want you to do. Stay strong ❤️

Mom, it still hasn’t registered that you are no longer with us because we have yet to say Good bye ..but until the day that we do say goodbye at St.Terea’s Church both Nathan and I want you to Fly to the heavens and reach out for Barb and Nan & Pop and Aunt Sandra who are waiting for you with open arms…God bless you my Dear Mother..gone but never forgotten love always your Daughter Natalie and Grandson Nathan ????

Sincere condolences to Fox and the Lacey family Doreen and I are so sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of our good neighbour and friend for over 65 years. She is completely out of pain now and at peace with God. She is another angel in God’s house. Be sure to have a tea with her Mom and Dad for us. Love and miss you. Rest in peace Alice and Gods speed.

Ross and I like to give our deepest condolences to Alice family. I knew your mom years ago when I lived on Bell Island. We had alot of laughs together and no matter when I made a visit down home Alice would greet us with open arms. She will be miss by many. God had took another Angel home. RIP Alice. Had the pleasure of playing crazy 8s with you and nan in your kitchen. Seeing you al ost every day while i was living with nan. You always asked me how i was doing in school. You will be missed by many people in this world. My heart goes out to everyone in the family.
