Obituary

Brown, Annie Eileen (Baggs) – Passed peacefully away on September 22nd, 2026 in St. John’s. Annie was predeceased by her husband Bertram (Bert) in 2006, her parents Nina (Barter) Baggs (2006) and Walter Baggs (1990), as well as numerous other relatives, in-laws, and friends.

Left to mourn are her daughters Beverly (Roy) and Carolyn, sister Cynthia, granddaughters: Megan, Melissa, and Melanie, as well as her extended family members, in-laws, and friends.

Annie, who recently celebrated her 88th birthday, was born in Cape La Hune, NL and was married to her beloved husband Bert (former teacher at Prince of Wales Collegiate) for 47 years. They married in 1959. She worked as a primary school teacher until deciding to devote herself full-time to raising her children.

In later years, Annie enjoyed socializing with her friends and would attend many city events where she was affectionately known as “The Fashionista”.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and Chancellor Park, who cared for her over the past three months, within a greatly challenged system.

Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A private family service with interment at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road was held on Thursday, September 24th, 2026.

We are so saddened to hear of Anne’s passing. We became friends with Anne about 20 years ago while attending Open Mic shows and other functions. She loved music and liked to dance. She was such a mild and sweet lady, may she rest in peace. Our sincere condolences to all of Anne’s family.
