Obituary
Passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at the Health Sciences Centre on March 16, 2022 at the age of 72. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Blanche (Snow) McNiven, brothers Brother Patrick McNiven, Val (Betty) McNiven, Michael (Elizabeth) McNiven, brother-in-law Bill Rees; sister-in-law Connie McNiven. Left with a lifetime of fond and loving memories her daughter Kelly (Kevin Tucker); sisters Paula Rees, Helen McNiven; brothers David McNiven, Greg McNiven, Gerald (Mary) Anstey of Halifax, and many nieces and nephews. Barb will also be missed by her two fur babies Abby and Willow, and her friends of the PCSP Rainbow 50+ Club.
Special thanks to the healthcare team at the Mt. Pearl Kidney Care Centre, especially Scott Collins, for keeping her spirits up, as well as the Emergency Room doctors and nurses for their care and compassion, especially nurse Jerry who went above and beyond in his care of Barb.
Family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, March 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Sunday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barb’s memory may be made to the SPCA or a charity of one’s choice.
