Margaret Anne and I have been away from Halifax for the Month of March so I’m late in reacting to this news. Oh the stories I could tell about this , truly, wonderful person. His time playing Santa Clause, the tickets we sold for some charity, the birthday parties and small kids and the beer we drank along the way. Although we didn’t see each other regularly over the later years there were very few months that went by without Barry walking across my memory bank and giving me a warm moment of reflections. Sending the family all our love at this sad, sad time.

Heather, Nicholas and family,

Barry was a special person in my life a long time ago because he always made me feel significant by being interested in me and what was happening. I’m sending you all healing love and enjoy the reflections of his precious life.

Heather, so sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

Heather, Nicholas and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Barry’s passing. He was the epitome of a strong and courageous man, who had a positive outlook on life and a valiant spirit.

I have fond memories of our waves and little chats ‘over the fence’ back in the day. I can’t ever recall a time when Barry didn’t have a big smile, had something nice to say, or he’d share a funny story.

Deepest condolences and love to you all, and may your memories give you sustenance during this sad time.

Heather and family
Deepest sympathy,You are all in my thoughts and prayers

Sincere condolences to you and your family, Heather. Thinking of you at this sad time,

Hi Heather, Nick, Marg and family: I am truly in tears at Barry’s passing, but it is not the first time Barry has brought tears.. As senseless teenagers he was the leader of a bunch of happy go lucky friends that could not get enough of each other. I vividly remember Barry in the middle of the road, pretending to be drunk and going to walk between two motor cycles coming at him, he cut it a little close more than once. while his friends were laughing hysterically. There are many good memories, like the time he stole his mothers cigarettes… That was no laughing matter for him!
I am sure Barry had a lot to be thankful for. He married a saint and together, over a lifetime, they established a family that you both can be very proud of; “mission accomplished, Barry and Heather”! Chin up guys! Jim and Judy Radford (From Florida)

Heather, Nick, Katie and Family…

Heather, I had to send you a note …I was so sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. I know he is in a better place and is healthy again.. It still does not help with the pain I know you must feel. Just take it one day at a time and your pain will heal. Think often of all the good memories and cherish them forever.

Heather and family,

So very sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. Our sincere condolences for your loss. Thinking of you at this time and sharing in your sadness.

My dear Heather,

Memories flooded in as we got the news of Barry’s death. From our first meeting, nearly four decades ago to the years since, both nearby and later across the miles, yours and Barry’s were among our most treasured friendships Wishing we could be there to share a hug and a story. Barry was one of those wonderful people, who left an indelible mark on your heart, with his larger-than-life presence and sense of fun. Some of our fondest memories involve so much laughter, great conversation, and wonderful food! We share with you, Nicholas, and his little family, our deepest condolences, hearts heavy with sadness, and thoughts full of that one-of-a-kind gentle soul with the booming voice whom we can never forget.

Dear Heather, Nicolas, Margret and families. I am so sad to learn of Barry’s passing. My parents and I moved next door to Barry when I was two years old and, in recalling the few memories I have of that time, I realized that he was my oldest friend. We had great times running through Gulliver’s Field and around the Crescent. He was always so kind to me and delighted when we met over the years, although too infrequently.

Please accept my sincere condolences. I will never forget him.

To the Walters family: We love thee dear old college, we love thee BFC! We love thee for our founders sake! This is from one of your old Fieldian friend.

Rest in Peace Barry!

to Barry:
I’m so sad to hear of your passing, and offer my deepest condolences to all, but I want to share with your friends and family a happy memory of sixty five years ago; when, as classmates, you and I teamed up to enter the three-legged race during Sports Day at Fieldian Grounds; an unlikely pair for sure!
Somehow we managed to win a small medal for First Place; and considering the difference in our stature at the time I now believe that you must have carried me. Thanks for making my day buddy.
I will treasure the memory always..

Dear Aunt Marg, Heather and Nick.
We were saddened to learn of Barry’s death. Every time I ran into him, you were guaranteed a good joke and a big bear hug. I know you will miss him a great deal. Thinking of you all.

Sending my love from afar,

Heather and Nick,

Sincere condolences to you and your family as you go through this difficult time. I enjoyed chatting to Barry and remember fondly first meeting him. He informed me of the Walters generations and where I placed in that. He was a beautiful person and even upon my first meeting with him, I felt as though I had know him a lifetime.

Blessings and prayers are with you all.

A beautiful man inside and out – I’ll miss him greatly!

Barry has been my friend since I first met him at engineering school (NSTC Now Dalhousie Engineering.). We remained close friends to the end.
Barry was the most positive person I ever met. I can honestly say I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. We all have ups and downs in our lives but Barry always had a mountain to climb and he did it with grace, charm, laughter, caring about others but never ever complained.
He was brilliant and he always knew that there was a way to get over or by-pass any obstacle when others would give up.
Heather was the love of his life and she was truly “the wind beneath his wings.
He loved and was so proud of his son Nicholas and his grandson Oliver and I know they loved him.
Barry was my friend for over 50 years and I will miss him so much.
Saint Peter will know Barry is coming because he will hear his booming, friendly voice and I know the “Pearly Gates” will be wide open to welcome him.
God Bless “The Bear”, God Bless Heather, Nick, Katie and Oliver.

To Heather, Nicholas and family, We are so sorry to hear of Barry’s passing our thoughts and prayers are with you at very sad time time. May he RIP.

To Heather, Nicholas and family,

Very saddened to hear of Barry’s passing as I always enjoyed his jovial manner and his perspectives on life. He was a wonderful supporter of the Nova Scotia Technical College Alumni (NL Branch) fund raising dinners and nobody liked attending our annual flipper dinner more than Barry. He will be greatly missed by his fellow alumni.
