It is with great sadness that we announce that Beulah has ascended into the Abha Kingdom on June 17th, 2023. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded with love, in presence and in spirit, with family and friends, both in the room and from afar.

Beulah came into the world on February 25, 1949 in Corner Brook. While her life was not always an easy road, she travelled it with incredible grace and left a trail of light and love for all to see.

Beulah is reunited with her little sister, Donna Lee and both parents, Wallace and Jane.

Beulah was loved and will be fondly missed by her loving husband, Ronald Murphy; her children, Donna McCarthy (Brian Parker), John McCarthy (Jennifer), George McCarthy (Jennifer Mosgrove), Melissa Brown (Jason); her grandchildren, Anthony, Lizzie, Sage, Ethan, foster children Andrew Glenn (Rebecca) and Nicole Mahon and each of their families; brothers, Calvin (Barb) Derek (Dorothy) and George (Ruth) and sisters, Marg (Danny (d)) Della (Leonard) and Olga (Ken) and their respective families; as well as her fur-baby and fur grandbabies.

As a dedicated member of the Bahà’í Faith, Beulah was known for her devotion and commitment to the communities where she lived. From Corner Brook, to St John’s and Mount Pearl, she has left a legacy of caring for children and adults, including Junior Youth (JY), Chaulker Place, and the informal craft days in all the communities where she lived. Beulah was known as the “Kool Aid Mom” to so many.  She was often heard saying “while I never carried you under my heart, I carry you in my heart.”  Her home was always a safe haven to stop by for a cup of tea, a snack, or a seven course meal.

Beulah had an artistic side and loved making crafts: painting, beading or the latest trend from the magazine she read. She was rarely seen without her crochet hook or knitting needles and loved to gift her many creations.

“To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever.” – Albus Dumbledore

To Beulah’s family,
I knew Beulah for many years and we shared an Aunt, Aunt Myrtle, her fathers sister. Beulah and I were in same classes at High School in C BK she was always so pleasant and had such a nice smile. I have not seen her since grade 11 many yrs ago.
Beulah May you rest in peace with your departed loved ones. You will always be
remembered in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Brenda (Martin) Piercey
Formerly of Corner Brook
now of Kingston, Nova Scotia

Ron,
Offering my condolences to you and your family on Beulah’s passing. May her memory be a blessing to you always.

Melissa. My heart is so sad for you and your family. I hope you will find solace in stories, memories and being together and my biggest wish is that you come to find peace in your heart. Such a difficult time. I am here whenever you need to chat. Love and hugs. I know you are devastated. Just know I am thinking of you.

Dear John,

I hope this message finds you in the strength of the good memories and love that we share with your dear mother, our Aunt Beulah. Her loss is truly monumental, and I want to express my heartfelt condolences.

Aunt Beulah was more than an Aunt to me, she was a guiding light, a confidante, and a source of unwavering support. She was a unique soul, full of warmth, wit, and wisdom, and her absence will be deeply felt.

I remember, as if it was yesterday, when we were kids and Aunt Beulah let me borrow your Commodore Vic-20. That single act of kindness sparked in me a lifelong passion for computers, and I have her to thank for the path I am on today. I’m sure you remember how we would gather around that computer, with anticipation and excitement, a memory that will forever remain a part of my childhood.

One of my favorite memories with her was her clever way of getting me to stand when no chairs were available. “Stand up and you’ll grow taller,” she would say. It was our little inside joke, as I ended up much taller than her. Her humor was a gift, a beacon of light that always made our days brighter.

When I moved to St. John’s for college and struggled with settling down, Aunt Beulah came to my rescue. Her generosity knew no bounds, and I will forever be grateful for the time I spent living with you guys. She not only gave me a place to stay but also welcomed Sonja into our lives. She was so insightful to realize that Sonja and I were meant to be together, and her acceptance and support played a crucial role in our relationship. This April, Sonja and I will be celebrating our 26th anniversary, and Aunt Beulah will be in our thoughts, as always.

Our late-night Law and Order marathons remain one of my fondest memories. Those quiet, shared moments encapsulated the warmth of her personality, her quiet strength and her immense capacity for love.

John, I want you to know that I am here for you. Distance may separate us, but our shared experiences and love for Aunt Beulah bind us together. Please know that my thoughts are with you and your family in this difficult time.

We are all blessed to have known Aunt Beulah and her influence will continue to live within us. Her spirit, full of love and resilience, will always be a guiding light in our lives.

Sending loving sympathy to you, Ron, and to the family. Beulah was a special soul, and am sure that she is already busy serving in the Realms of Light, now that she is freed from the illness and physical limitations that she experienced on this plane of existence, especially in recent years.

I just heard this morning about the passing of my good friend Beulah Murphy.

Man.

We hadn’t talked in a while, but we visited the last time I was in Newfoundland. Rarely in life have I met a person who was the embodiment of goodness the way she was. And it was that tough kind of goodness. That indomitable kind.

What a blessing even to know her, let alone to be welcomed in, treated to her knitting and laughter and gentle taunting. The look she gave you over the rim of her glasses to let you know you were done speaking because she had something to add.

Always lent herself to the right stuff. Always, always at it.

My deepest condolences to Ron and the family.

She will be missed.

My condolences to you and the family. have memories of her during my time in Newfoundland. May her beautiful soul be joyous.
