It is with great sadness that the family of Blanche Theodora Osmond (nee Burden) announce her passing on the morning of July 24th, 2024 surrounded by family at the Dr Leonard Miller Centre palliative care unit after a battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her husband, Everett Osmond and her son Alvin “Kevin” Osmond; Her parents Mary (McKenzie) and Hector Burden; and her brother, David Burden.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of happy memories are her children: Gregory (Margaret), Lyndon (Jackie), Roy (Susan), and Cori (Cathy) along with grandchildren: Elana, Tim (Natalie), Jonathan, Scott (Lindsay), Matthew, Katelyn (Tom), Nicholas (Lindsay), Allison (Patrick), Benjamin, Ebony, and Logan, and great grandchildren: Tienna, Teneshia, Stephen, William, Cedric, Aylin, Prairie, and Freya, and great great grandchildren: Aysha, and Evelyn.
Also leaving to mourn are Blanche’s siblings: Helena Cull, Edwin Burden, Frances Daniele, Lorna Roberts, Sue Parsons, Wayne Burden, Melvin Burden and Roger Burden.
Blanche will be remembered as a loving mother and hard working woman who enjoyed relaxing with friends and family while sipping on a glass of wine or baileys Irish cream. She was an avid sewer, knitter, crocheter and quilter. She was known to make a dress a few hours before a dance. Her quilts can be found in many family members homes. “Nan” loved cooking, baking and tending on children, grand children and great grand children when they visited. Even while sick you needed to race her to the kitchen if you wanted to tend on her. One of her favorite spots was sitting in her chair in front of her bay window enjoying the view of Gros Morne and Bonne Bay.
Cremation has now taken place.
Visitation will take place at Shoal Brook United Church, Bonne Bay, NL on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 3:00 pm with Internment to follow at the Shoal Brook United Church Cemetery.
