It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Brenda Kellier-Mitchell, who peacefully departed this life on July 13, 2025.
Brenda touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. With a warm heart, quick wit, and unwavering generosity, she had a special way of lighting up every room she entered. She lived a life rooted in love, family, faith, and quiet strength.
She will be lovingly remembered for her deep compassion, her spirited laugh, and the way she made everyone feel valued and cared for. Whether lending a listening ear, preparing a comforting meal, or simply sharing a joyful moment, Brenda gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and grace. Brenda will be deeply missed by her husband, Desmond; her son, Jervanni; her sisters, Lauralee and Rosemarie; her brother, Donovan; her many nieces and nephews; and the wide circle of friends and loved ones whose lives she so richly touched.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at a later date and location to be announced, where we will gather to honor her beautiful spirit and the lasting imprint she left on our hearts.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her light lives on in every life she touched—and her spirit will remain with us always.
“Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and Earth has lost a light that can never be replaced.”
Brenda, Brenda, Brenda. My bunununus friend even in death. I will always remember the many talks we had back home and even since we migrated. We laughed and crack jokes like crazy. The encouragements we gave each other was out of this world. I miss you something fierce. Almighty God knows best. No more worries and pain in this crazy world my friend. RIP, till we meet on the other side. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🥰❤️❤️😩😩
Brenda Kellier-Mitchell, affectionately known to me as Brenda, ‘Gone too soon.”
Memories of her will forever be etched in my mind.
I will never forget her efficacious, radiant smiles and her laughter. I have fond memories of us and her sister, Rosy, sitting on their mom’s verandah some nights into the wee hours of the morning, just chatting, laughing, and being silly. I remember when Barry G., a radio personality, first visited Old Harbor, and the three of us went to the event. It was so jammed that we couldn’t get in, and Rosy tried crawling under a table to get in. We had a good laugh when she was caught.
There is so much I could say, but not enough time.
Sleep well, our ‘Community Princess and my dear, loving friend.
Condolences to her husband, son, and the rest of the family!
Here’s a heartfelt tribute message you could share in honor of Brenda Kellier-Mitchell:
—
Brenda’s presence was a quiet strength and a radiant light. I vividly remembered those we waited for each other taking the bus to and from to school. Though your time among us felt far too brief, the warmth, grace, and kindness you shared left a lasting imprint on every heart you touched. I remember your gentle encouragement, your laughter that lifted spirits, and your unwavering compassion. You lived with purpose and gave generously of yourself—whether through a comforting word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being present. I wanted to believe that you were too quite. The secrets we shared as cousins! The time you shared with me your transition and I somehow didn’t fully got it. I happened to save the last voice note unaware not really knowing that would be your parting shot.
To Desmond, Jervanni, and the entire family: may you find peace in the legacy Brenda leaves behind—a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
Sleep Brenda, until God who has appointed a day that Jesus will come to take His people where they will no longer be separated by death, He Jesus will call all those who has chosen to live for Him now, He wil call all those who sleep in Him, to the home that He has gone to prepare. Until then!
Brenda, my dearest sister. You will forever be my best friend. Your kindness towards me, my kids and my grandchildren will never be forgotten. Thank you for the time you take to make our relationship stronger. The calls, the prayers, the jokes that make me laugh from the belly, our walks although we were not physically in the same place. Thank you for your encouragements that made me become more like you!
I am so happy we never end a conversation without saying how much we love each other.
I will always love you!
Desmond and family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on you loss.
I remember Brenda from Bonnews Lodge while my mother was a resident.
She had a quiet, pleasant presence. May she rest in peace.
Sincerely
Brenda and Tony Howell
