Obituary

Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in his 77th  year. Cec was a retired Captain with the St. John’s Reginal Fire Department.

He is predeceased by his first wife Lorna (nee Brace); his parents John and Gladys Whalen; brothers Gordon and Chesley; sisters Susie Legrow and Blanche Noseworthy; his very special dog, his fur baby Sebastian; as well as stepdaughter Elizabeth.

Leaving to mourn his wife Ruby; sisters Betty Gosse (Jack Bannister) and Marion Vincent (Eric); step-son Andy (Patsy) and their children Kayla and Andrew; stepchildren Rita, Peter and Timmy; step-sister Lucy Drover (Mike); sisters-in-law Laura and Dorcas Whalen; brother-in-law Joe Legrow; mother-in-law Elesene Brace; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held. Donations in his memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.

To Marion and family. We were very saddened to hear of Cec,s passing . Our hearts are with you as you travel this sad journey. We spent a lot of happy times together, and will cherish the beautiful memories. He made me laugh more than anyone else I know. God bless you all.

So sorry to read of Cec’s passing. I spent 6 months with him and Lorna before her passing. He made me laugh with his stories and how much he loved the cabin at Ocean Pond. RIP Cec. You were a good man. Condolences to his family.

Condolences to the family. Cease was like a breath of fresh air when you were in his presence. Always a jovial smile. You never knew what he was about to say or do.. . All in good content. Fun to be around. RiP Cecil.
