It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, father and uncle Gordon “Chad” Smith in Calgary, Alberta at the young age of 38 years. Chad is predeceased by his grandparents Annie and Ernest Smith and Tom and Mary Ryan.

Leaving to mourn with broken hearts are his sons and pride and joy Jordan and Lincoln.  Jordan’s mom Jessica and his very special friend Dawn (Miss Campbell) as he liked to call her. His parents Ern and Lily as well as brothers Dick (Angie), Christopher (Melissa), Stephen (Ashley) and step brother Wayne. Nieces and nephews Warren, Nolan, Julianna, and Alexander. Aunts and uncles Clar (Judy), Fred (Fran), Bob (Bernice), Dave (Faye), John, Bride, Doug, and Carol Ann Hann, as well as numerous cousins.

Chad had the biggest heart and was loved by many. He would give you the shirt off his back and give it to anyone in need. He was the life of the party and had made many friends wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him including his best friends Dave Williams, Angie Smith, Shauna Evely Smith, Courtney Barbour, Shawn Foley, Dave Hodder, Dick Buckley, Duncan Campbell, and Corey Rines.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, April 26 from 12:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 and a service will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 11:00 am from The Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Anglican Cemetery on Forest Road. The service will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend.

“Only a moment you stayed, but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts.”
