It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles “Charlie” Pearce Stevens at the age of 81 years on Friday January 28, 2022, at the Pleasantview Towers Long Term Care Facility.

Charlie Stevens wore many hats during his lifetime but the ones we most remember him for were Dad, husband, and Pop. He will also be remembered as a staple in Mount Pearl at the “Tin Can” and Glacier where he was the General Manager for many years. Charlie was never stuck for words or a response, he was kind, generous and funny as well as “quick witted”!

Charlie is predeceased by his parents, Archibald and Esther; brothers, Archibald (Bertha), Fred (Rita), Alex, Eric, Gil and Lew; and sisters, Violet and Edina.

Left with broken hearts but beautiful memories; his loving wife of 54 years, Clara (Corcoran); four children; Sean (Wanda), Roxane (Bill), Michelle (Chris) and Stephanie (Lorne); his six precious grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Abi, Cole, Noah and Grace; his brother Levi and his two sisters, Mary (Lewis) and Florence; many nieces, nephews, sister in laws, other relatives and lifelong friends Pete and Cynth Jardine, to name a few but definitely not limited to. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the many kind souls at Pleasantview Towers for their compassionate care.

Following COVID-19 guidelines, a celebration of Dad’s life will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 2nd by invitation only. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Inurnment to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Society NL, Canadian Mental Health Association, or the Janeway Foundation. For the strangers who may happen upon the Guest Book, it is a fascinating and detailed portrait of a life. For Charlie’s family, it is an immensely meaningful tribute to a loved one that they can all share, no matter where they are.

Don Stevens & family

I knew and respected Charlie when we both worked in Labrador City, Charlie worked in the warehouse and I as a mechanic. One thing I always remember about Charlie was his friendly greetings and gigantic smile. Rest in Peace Charlie you left lasting wonderful memories to all you knew.

Remembering someone with a kind and caring soul like Charlie is so easy. Through his 81 years he directly touched his family and close friends with his loving and kind personality which helped create a mountain of precious memories. However, he also left so many others, who had the pleasure of meeting him, with memories of his kindness and his ability to make one smile and more often to have a good chuckle even when meeting you for the very first time. Rest In Peace our good friend!
