Clara Perchard ( nee Stoyles) has changed her address. She has moved to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Clara read her Bible and knelt at her bedside morning and night until her knee surgery prevented the kneeling. However her faithfulness to her God never waivered.
She will be deeply missed by her 4 children and their families. Annette (John) Huggett, Alison (Allan) Hume, Carol Mckenzie and Rex (Jackie) Perchard. Her grandchildren, Jaime Huggett (Nancy Squires), Justin Huggett (deceased), Tracy Roberts (Cameron Rae), April Mckenzie, Nicole (Ricardo) Mora, Lisa Perchard (Boris Vujanovic) and Derek Perchard (Kassandra Kennedy) great grandchildren Liam Squires Huggett, Mackenzie Strowbridge & RJ Mckenzie, Sofia & Logan Mora, Luka, Katarina & Lana Vujanovic. Brothers; Lewis Stoyles (Louise) and Allister Stoyles, brother in law John Carter (Elaine deceased), sister in law Eleanor Stoyles (Wesley deseased)
Born on Dec. 5, 1935 in Hillview, Trinity Bay to Lydia and Alfred Stoyles. She is pre-deceased by them, plus 3 siblings, Daisy Ivany, Wesley Stoyles & Elaine Carter and her husband of 43 years, Derek Perchard.
Clara worked in house keeping jobs in her early years, before becoming a teacher in Brigus and Topsail. It was in Topsail that she met and married Derek. It wasn’t until her children were nearly all grown that she began her happiest career as a librarian at MUN. To this day she has kept many treasured friends and memories from those years.
She was generous, kind & loving. Rarely had a negative word to say about anyone or anything ( unless it was moustaches or beards … sorry guys ) lol
Although she has endured a lot of physical pain in the last 8 years, she was very blessed to have had a healthy active life for the first 80 years. She had the opportunity to do a lot of travelling. She’s kissed the Blarney Stone, enjoyed a hot air balloon ride and went paragliding in Mexico on her 80th birthday. What an amazing woman! Definitely one of a kind. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Her funeral service will be at Elim Tabernacle, 565 Kenmount Road on Saturday, July 25 at 11am. In lieu of visiting the funeral home, friends are invited to share memories in the community room at the church following the service. In her memory, donations may be made to your charity of choice.
