Our beloved Cynthia Pardy passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, four years after the passing of her devoted husband, Bruce Pardy. Cynthia was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Cyril and Eleanor Janes. She was the second of six children, predeceased by her older brother, Donald, and survived by her siblings Elizabeth, Barbara, David, and Sandra.
Cynthia leaves behind her cherished children, Rick (Wanda Highmore), Jane (Jack Lavers), and Keith, her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Sheppard and her sister-in-law Peggy Taite (Jack).
She was predeceased by her son Randell, as well as by Bruce’s sisters Gladys, Suzie, Audrey, and Bertha (William Schroeder), and his brother Richard (Julie).
Known affectionately as Nana to her eight grandchildren, Cynthia will be sorely missed by Marc (Alex), William (Joanne), Donald (Maxine), Nicola (Calen), David Bruce, David John, Jennifer, and Natalie.
Cynthia and her husband, Bruce, were a devastatingly handsome couple from the start – always dressed to the nines for cocktail hour, hosting friends and family for tennis and dinner parties at home, and sharing cold drinks on their deck during beautiful summer evenings as they admired the birds and the wonderful gardens they had cultivated together. Cynthia was known for her elegant dinner parties, decadent cooking, and exceptional sense of style. She made the ordinary feel beautiful and elevated every gathering into an occasion, with a frosty gin martini in tow.
Cynthia and Bruce always said that the joy of starting their family young was that they got to grow up alongside their children. Over the years, they collected dozens of faded film photographs from their raucous days of waterskiing, snowmobiling, and fishing in Deer Park with Randell, Rick, Jane, and Keith, surrounded by family and friends.
The family will be accepting visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home located at 329 Freshwater Road, on July 30th, at 12:00 NOON until 1:00 p.m., following the visitation there will be a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. on July 30th in the Carnell Memorial Chapel, in remembrance of Cynthia.

Jane and family, so sorry to read of your Mom’s passing. I remember her during get togethers at your home and she always enjoyed a good party! And always dressed for the occasion, or any occasion. Thinking of you.
I’ve just now read of Cynthia’s death and thinking of so many wonderful times we had with, “the Florida Friends”; golf outings / trips to faraway places / countless dinner parties where Bruce regaled us with his deadpan stories and Cynthia would say “BRUCE!”
It was the Good times.

Rick, Jane , Keith and families. Very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I am sure, over time, you will have fond memories of all the wonderful times you had together, both individually and collectively. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Barbara and I were quite sad to hear the passing of Cynthia.
I had to privilege of representing Bruce on occasion as a practitioner and missed him dearly when he passed.
Family should be proud of their parents and what they accomplished and how they accomplished it And left left a great legacy to the children.
Unfortunately, Barbara and I are on the road travelling to Nova Scotia and unable to attend the week.
All the very best and you’re lucky to have them as your parents.

My Dearest sympathies to Rick, Jane, Keith and extended family. I have grown up knowing the Pardy family from shooting hoops on Bells Turn, to playing road hockey on the top of Sherwood Drive to watching Bruce, Cyntia and the rest of the family compete in Tennis on Waterford Avenue.
The Last name might be Pardy but in realistic terms between our families it should have been Party. as that is what we enjoyed.

I met “Cindy and Bruce” MANY years ago in Sri Lanka, where we were on posting with Canada’s Foreigh Service! A vibrant couple with their young children! Gary and I are so so very sorry for your loss….. your Mom and mother in law was a wonderful lady. I have so so many wonderful memories of all of us growing up and hanging up in Deer Park. Oh the times we went back and forth from your cabin to ours by dingy. Your mom was always so gracious and kind.
