Obituary
Surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Hospital, on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Cyril Eugene Sullivan of St. John’s (formerly Pouch Cove) passed away at the age of 75 years, following a short illness.
Predeceased by his parents (Cyril and Mina), brother (Wayne), mother and father-in-law (Ron and Della Easterbrook), and sister-in-law (Betty Thorne).
Leaving to mourn and miss him is his wife of 56 years, Roslyn; his children Laura (Barry Fewer), Terry (Terri), Ronald, and Sean (Kate). Brother Chris (Diane), sisters Irene (Chester Noseworthy), and Marie; brother-in-law Cecil Thorne, grandchildren Kelsy, Renee, Hailey, Abigail, Chloe, Jax, Lexi, great grand-daughter Layla, and many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Dad retired from the City of St. John’s in 1997 after 35 years of service. During this time, he made many friends. He had a special friendship with Steve Fowler with whom he enjoyed many phone chats through his retirement years. Dad also had many fond memories with his brother-in-law Chester. The two would regularly visit every Saturday morning; and sometimes, they would even traipse to the south shore for fishing trips. At the encouragement of Uncle Chester, Dad even gave his hand at hunting once, but quickly decided it wasn’t for him. Dad was also known for his sense of humor. Often making people laugh with his quick remarks; even with the nurses in his final days.
A special thank you to all the nurses on 7 West at St. Clare’s, with a special shout-out to Tanesha and Steph for your kindness to dad and our family. As well, thank you to the numerous doctors who attended to dad. A special acknowledgement to Dr. Snow who was there from the beginning; there are no words to describe your compassion, understanding and support during this difficult time. Thank you to Dr. Lorne Adams, dad’s family physician. Finally, thank you to Rev. Karen Thorne for her loving support.
At dad’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service or visitation.
So sorry to hear of Cyril’s passing. I have good friend memories of him. RIP Cyril!

So very sorry to hear of Cyril’s passing. As children we were very close to Uncle Cyril (Cyril’s Dad) and all of Daddy’s (Boyd) family. I remember visiting them on Sunday afternoons on our regular trips from Bauline to Pouch Cove. While I haven’t seen Cyril in a long time, I still have those fond memories.
