Cyrus Ben Lansall Clarke

September 6, 2019

It is with shock and sadness that the family of Cyrus Ben Lansall-Clarke announces his passing on Friday, September 6, 2019, at the age of 27.  Cyrus was born in Montréal, Oct 20, 1991 and was the bright light and beloved son of Lorraine (Lori) Frances Clarke (Phil Winters) and Lisle Lansall-Ellis (Ann Morey). Cyrus was a bold, brave, kind-hearted, insightful, passionate, loving, talented person. He loved his friends, he loved his family, and he loved making music, ideas, and exploring consciousness. Cyrus will continue in the hearts of his Grandparents Don and Hazel Clarke, Uncle Thomas Clarke and Aunt Leslie Butt, Aunt Simone Kearsey, dear cousin Amelia Clarke, Aunt Angel Bryant (BC), Great Aunt Elizabeth Dyke, and a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Best friends Irwin Davidson, Cameron Pawlett and Brett Fizzard are among Cy’s chosen family who grieve, along with many others, old and new friends, and collaborators in music, consciousness, and life. Along with the humbling support from our local community, there has been a tremendous outpouring of condolences from musicians and artists that knew Cyrus in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, California, New York, Texas, and as far away as Japan.     Thank-you to the first responders, to the heroic efforts made at St. Clare’s emergency department and the compassionate palliative care in the ICU. Cyrus was a miracle. He will be remembered as a bright light leaning into darkness and is now restored to light and love. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s on Freshwater Road, Wednesday and Thursday September 11 and 12, 2-4 and 7-9. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be announced for a later date.

So sorry to hear of your loss, so tragic and unjust. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Lori, Phil, Don, Hazel, Tom and Amelia

I was late hearing about Cyrus and I am so very sorry for your loss. Your whole family were like my own and Cyrus felt like a nephew to me for so many years. I will always remember taking him golfing, swimming and babysitting him with Tom. He was a great person to have known and be around. I pray for you all and hope things can sort themselves out. Tragic! Sometimes life can be so unfair.

I will always remember Gussie as a kind, creative, intelligent, and funny person.

Lori, you were an amazing mother to him and you should be very proud of that….he knew this for sure.

God Bless you all !

This is heart-rending, Lori, unimaginable. Know that you can reach out to us if you need anything or whenever you feel up to it, we’re not far away. So sorry for your tragic loss. David + Karen

Hello Lori,

My name is Xaiver Campnell. I really wanted to reach out and say I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Cyrus. We have been friends for many years and I am telling you he was an amazing young man. You did great. I have seen him at his best and at some of his worst and he was always the most lovely, empathetic, compassionate soul. The world is truly much worse off without him here. I am sorry and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the family AND friends of Cyrus Clarke,
I might have known Cy just a little over a year but he was the type of person to light up a room, especially when its needed the most. He never ceased to make his friends laugh and he would always have your back if anything happened. The loss of Cyrus Clarke has affected many, family, friends, aqquaintances, etc. He is always loved and between his friends (me included), and family, his memory will live on forever. Now I admit I am not a religious person but I am so sorry for your loss. Your son/brother/grandson/nephew, was the strongest, bravest and most loving soul could you could ever meet. And his music, he was a lyrical misfit, he was the best I have ever heard. I still listen to his music on repeat.. Sending love and hugs!

To the family of Cyrus:
We feel your pain and we pray that you will be strengthened to endure this terrible time in your lives. Although broken hearts will never become fully unbroken, precious memories will aid in the healing.
May God’s blessing be with you today and in the days ahead.

Hazel and family, my deepest condolences to all of you on your loss.

While the loss of a loved one is never easy, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from us too soon. We have been shocked and saddened since we heard the terrible news.

May love carry you onward through this new world in which you must live.

I cannot imagine this loss. I send solace and sweet ease to you and Phil and others who loved him, still here as Cyrus goes on, as you said, “into love and light”. I send you both… xoxox
