Daisy Marie Hayward (née Pearce)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Daisy Hayward (née Pearce) of Channel-Port aux Basques at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on June 15, at the age of 68.

Over the past year Daisy was diagnosed with cancer.  She was determined to beat it, and she did. She won the battle; she was cancer free.  Sadly, many of her other health issues weren’t so easy to overcome.  She showed courage, strength, and she fought right up until her passing.

Leaving to mourn is her partner Leo “Jerry” Kelly, who was her support and companion to the end.  Her sons, Timothy (Sheri) and Jeremy and her four grandchildren who she adored, Chloe, Megan, Brooke and Jade. She also leaves behind a very large number of family and friends from the Pearce, Taylor and Kelly families.

You would be able to find Daisy reading a book, knitting, enjoying the company of her cats, or chatting on the phone to catch up with family and friends.

She lived a simple, quiet life, but her personality was large.  Daisy lived life beating to her own drum. If you wanted the truth, Daisy would be sure to tell you.  She was witty, smart, kind and always loved a good banter, especially with Jerry and normally at her own or Jerry’s expense. It never stopped the love they had for each other, which lasted 45 years.

Daisy’s family was most important to her.  Every chance given, she would brag about her sons and grandkids.  The last conversation she had was about her grandkids, Tim and Jeremy.  A mother’s love is unconditional, and it was this love she had for her sons.

Her wish was to be cremated with no wake or service, but simply to be remembered and rest peacefully. She will be forever missed and endlessly loved by her family and friends.
