Daphne Marie Lambert (née Hapgood)

September 14, 2026

Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Daphne Marie Lambert (née Hapgood) announce her peaceful passing on September 14, 2026 following a brief illness. A loving mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Daphne found her greatest joy in cooking and caring for her family. She was a force to be reckoned with; she was happiest when she was kept busy, always mastering every hobby she took on and every chore she set her mind to complete with a talent and determination that made everything look effortless.

Predeceased by parents Mildred & Tom Hapgood, she leaves to mourn her devoted husband Clarence; children: Paula Haynes (Tom), Sharon Richards (Neil; deceased), Chris Haynes (Dianna) and Angie Chaytor (Terry); grandchildren: Matthew, Mallory (Dan), Stephanie (Ryan), Sarah, Jason (Rebecca), Kristen, Mia and Reese; great-grandchildren: Umberto, Tiberio, Lily and Alyssa; siblings Ches (Marie), Pearl Bromley (Sam), Diane Houlihan (Roger), Debbie Hapgood (Terry) and stepbrother Winston Legge (Eileen). Also leaving to mourn Clarence’s children: Karen Lambert-Tilley, Sherry Hartery (Derm) and Clarence Jr.; grandchildren: Brandon, Kristina and Kathryn. Daphne also leaves behind her best friend: her golden retriever, Charlie.

Cremation has taken place. As per Daphne’s wishes, there will be no funeral service nor visitation. A celebration of life will occur at a later date. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and physicians of 5 North A at the Health Sciences Centre, for their compassion and exceptional care provided to Daphne in her final days. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Daphne’s memory may be made to your local SPCA.

“I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way.”
