David Godfrey Williams-Jones
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Godfrey Williams-Jones, age 79, who died peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, following a brave fight after a serious injury.
David was born on February 11, 1947, to the late Mairona and Kenyon Williams-Jones of Treorchy, Wales. A proud Welshman, David carried a deep love for his Welsh roots and traditions that connected him to home. He later built a life and family in Canada filled with love, friendship, music, and laughter.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Jillian Page Williams-Jones; his son, Dafydd Williams-Jones; his daughter, Caitlin Williams-Jones and her husband, Adam Barnes; and his grandchildren, Rhien, Rhys, and Seren.
He will also be dearly missed by his nephews in London and his cousins in Wales, who remained an important part of his life and his connection to home.
David graduated from the University of Wales Dental School. He was a kind and gentle dentist who cared deeply about his patients. He always did his best to help anyone who needed him, and his generosity and compassion extended far beyond his professional life.
David was a cool Dad and a fun Grampy, and he brought a sense of humor and playfulness to family life. He loved making people laugh and never took himself too seriously. His grandchildren will remember him not only as their Grampy, but as someone who made time for them and brought fun and love into their lives.
David loved watching the Grand Prix, listening to music—especially jazz—and playing the guitar. He also had a special love for his pets, who brought him great joy throughout his life. We like to imagine him now, at peace and walking once again with Hank, Ella, and Sally.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Anne MacDonald and Mike Bautista for their extraordinary help and support over the past two weeks, and always. We are also deeply grateful to close family friends Becky Paluch and Angela MacDonald, whose friendship and support have meant so much to our family.
A special thank you to Natalia Goloshchuk in British Columbia for helping care for Rhys and Seren while Caitlin has been away.
The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff and entire ICU team at the Health Sciences Centre for the compassionate care they provided to David during the past two weeks.
Cremation will take place, and a celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
Condolences to Dr. Page, family, friends and colleagues.

I am sending my deepest condolences to all the family members. I have not seen Dr. Willam’s- Jones in many, many years …. But will always remember his kindness and laugh . I was a regular at his office growing up due to many dental “ accidents” and he always made things right with some laughter along the way . Since moving away from NF, I have yet to find a dentist who can compare
Our condolences to the Williams-Jones family on the death of a Dentist who made a strong impression of caring to those whom he met over the years.

Dr. David was our family dentist for many years. We all enjoyed his great sense of humor & cheeky smile! He put you so at ease you forgot you were in a dentist’s chair!. He was especially wonderful to our young children so much so they looked forward to going to visit their fun loving and happy go lucky dentist. May your memories of your special husband father and Grampy give you peace in the days ahead. Much love from the musical O’Brien family.

I am so very sorry to hear of David’s passing. It’s been 20 years since we lived next door, but I can vividly remember David regularly making his way through the path in the woods…rounding up Ella or Tux who had a habit of coming over to say hello. Sending love to all the family.

I have no words. I am saddened and in a state of shock. It was only last night that I was talking about Dave to a film producer who has a love for Wales. He was one of the rare ones on this planet, caring, funny smart as a whip and a true kind and giving friend. Before I had a dental plan I had Dave.He would see me last on Friday and then we’ I am speechless. Beth and I offer our deepest condolences.

“He was a kind and gentle dentist who cared deeply about his patients. He always did his best to help anyone who needed him, and his generosity and compassion extended far beyond his professional life. Well spoken!
When he told me he was from Wales, I laughingly relied, “you must know Tom Jones”. He said Tom played at our teenage dances before he became famous” How many of us would love to have had that experience? Doctor Williams-Jones was one of the most considerate people I have met. Sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry to hear of David’s passing. He was my dentist for many years and knowing I’d get to chat with him made the visit so much more enjoyable (or less painful). I also remember him as an avid musician and guitar collector, and he was a regular visitor to Musicstop when I worked there. But most of all, I’ll remember his joyful demeanor… always quick witted and ready with a joke. May he rest in peace. I hope he’s raising a glass with my dad tonight in heaven
Caitlin there are no words at this time to ease the sadness in your heart.
Deepest condolences to you and your mom and brother and family .
RIP David.
Pam and I would like to offer our sincere condolences to you all. We are thinking of you during this sad time, and remembering David fondly. May he rest in peace.
To Dr. Page, Caitlin and all the family. I am heartbroken for your loss! Dave was a highlight of my day when I visited the clinic. We always had a great yarn about guitars, motorcycles and of course Guinness!
He always sent me away laughing with one of his jokes!
My last visit he even gave me some special English tools for my triumph and I still have the tool box with his name on it.
He was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew him.
