Debbie (Dale) Decker

June 5, 1954 to July 1, 2022

Obituary

Our dear Debbie passed away peacefully at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre with Brian and Michael by her side on July 1, 2022.  The Canada Day fireworks were happening as she passed away.

Predeceased by her parents Al and Betty Dale, Cecil and Alice Decker (in laws), and Mary Buckle (sister in law).

Leaving to mourn, her husband of 41 years, Brian, and their precious son, Michael, sisters Virginia (Wayne) Halley, Bobbi (Carl) McLean, Annette (Bernie) Michelin, brother Allan (Janet Baker) Dale, Gerry (Linda) Decker, Don (Lisa) Decker and Randy Decker.  Also leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews and their children, as well as many dear friends and neighbors in Airport Heights, and of course the family dog Marley, who never left Debbie’s side.

Debbie loved music and it was part of her every day.  She seemed to know each word to every song and could sit down and tap out the tune on the piano.  When Debbie was surrounded by her family and friends, those were her happiest moments.

In retirement, Debbie volunteered at The Gathering Place and this became so important to her.  She established a whole new circle of friends among the guests and volunteers.

Debbie’s family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals she encountered along the way.  They treated her and our family with such care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place and there will not be a public service or gathering as per Debbie’s request.  Donations in Debbie’s memory can be made to The Gathering Place or a charity of your choice.

Words cannot express how saddened we are to hear of your loss. Debbie was kind, thoughtful, and loved to laugh, sing and spend time with her family. She would greet us with a huge smile when we’d run into each other at the neighbourhood store and always had time for a chat to catch up. She was part of our extended family and a good friend. Our heartfelt sympathy to you all at this sad time.

To Debbie’s husband, son and extended Family. I was shocked and saddened to read of her passing. I worked with Debbie for many years at then Dept of Mines and Energy. Debbie was such a laugh and heartfelt person… Ran into her many times at Dominion and we always had a long chat and a few laughs. May she RIP.

Debbie’s passing is a loss felt deep by many. To say we will miss her is an understatement. Her contagious laugh, fun sense of humor, and adventurous spirit can be compared to no other. Just knowing she was next door, provided us with a sense of security especially once my father passed away and my mother lived alone – we never had to worry because Debbie was just next door. The many meals and happy times shared over the years, especially the wine and cheese parties and guitar hero comps, will always bring a smile to our faces as we remember you my friend.

Brian and Michael, to say we are sorry for your loss does not begin to express how deep our sorrow runs for your family. Cherish the wonderful memories you made together and the love you shared, as it is this that will help get you through the hard times to come.

Michael, I hope you know just how proud your Mom was of you – you truly were her pride and joy.

Please know that we are here for you both now and in the weeks ahead for anything you need – as Debbie was for us, we are just next door. Love and healing thoughts to you both. Xoxoxoxox
