Obituary

Passed away in Clarenville at the age of 66.  Predeceased by his wife Bridget (Penton), parents Cory and Mona, and brother Sheldon.  Left with a lifetime of fond and loving memories daughters Kelly (Bill Porath), and Amanda; grandchildren Sarah Forbes and Cory Hart; sister Veronica Ann Winter, brothers Jimmy, Billy, Jerry, Gene, Greg, Bradley and their spouses.  Delbert will also be fondly remembered by Bridget’s family and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  Delbert will be missed by all his friends at Timmies.

Delbert was a life-long truck driver and was loved by everyone he met.  Friends say he walked with a slow shuffle, but it was always straight ahead.

By request, cremation has taken place.  A private committal will take place on Fogo Island, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Bridget. 

Donations in Delbert’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Oh Delbert, you were such a good soul. My mom Phyllis loved having a coffee with you and Bridget at Tim Hortons in Paradise and I sometimes joined her. I remember you being witty, funny and your company will be greatly missed. My condolences to your family.

Heartfelt sympathy on the passing of a fine gentleman… though our interactions were brief, he was always a pleasure to talk with. May he rest in peace with his dear Bridget, and may the family hold their memories dear.

I am so sad to learn of Delbert’s passing. I had hoped to one day meet up with him again to share some memories of getting together in the summer at Grama Post’s home.
