Diane Elizabeth Elliott (nee Clouston)

Obituary

Diane Elizabeth Elliott (nee Clouston) passed away July 30th in South Carolina at the age of 77 surrounded by family after a brief illness.  She was predeceased by her parents Marion (Hynes) and Afton Clouston, niece Jennifer Pratt, and Diane’s husband Rowland Elliott.  Left to mourn are her sister Shelley Clouston, niece Beth Pratt, and special cousins Joan and Fred Jahnke in South Carolina.  Diane was a gentle and compassionate person, never an unkind word, forever putting others before herself.  She was a lover of cats, shopping, and a good glass of wine.  As she had left home at a young age, her friends and neighbours in Oregon became her family, but she never forgot “The Rock” and her friends and family here.  Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will occur at a later date.  Donations in Diane’s memory may be made to a cancer society or a charity of one’s choice.

My prayers go out to the family. Thank you Joan and Fred for taking her home with you during the final months of her life. She needed loving family members at her side and your previous occupations provided her with the medical care required. She spoke of you and all the comforts/beauty your home provided and she was over joyed that her sister had been able to spend time with her also. No one could ask for more. Diane was kind, thoughtful, caring. and simply a beautiful person. I will remember her always.

Our sincere condolences to Shelley and family. We did not know Diane well but she was a woman who valued the finer and rarer things in life – such as a warm Newfoundland summer night when friends could sit around a fire and enjoy both music and a glass of wine. On such occasions Diane patiently waited as tardy local gentleman struggled to get roast pig and turkey off the grill an onto plates. This was a lady who enjoyed a wide ranging and frank discussion of matters encompassing the subjects of wine, cuisine and politics. Every best wish to Shelley and family.
