April 12, 1964 to January 17, 2022

Obituary

Joining her dad Charles in heaven as a surprise for his birthday, Dianne Bridget Mills (nee Hanrahan), aged 57.

Dianne will be forever missed by her loving and devoted son Marcus Mills, who was truly her pride and joy.

Also left to cherish their family memories with love and laughter, her mother Alice (Charles deceased) Hanrahan and her two brothers, John and Charlie (Denise).

Dianne loved her family and friends dearly. She cherished her nieces and nephews – Nick (Nancy), Lucas, Amy (Lucas), and Melissa (and their mom Kim); Kate and Will (Martyna); and Charley. She will be missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues in Newfoundland and Ontario, especially her beloved cousin Susan Murphy in Alberta. Also mourning her loss are her son’s father Jim Mills and their family Doris (Al decreased) and Andrea (Hamish).

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home and the many teams at the Health Science Center for their care and support over these past months.

A celebration of her life is planned for the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dianne’s memory can be made to the SPCA. We all know her cherished pets Daisy and Minnie were also there to welcome her.

Marcus, family and friends. I was devastated to learn of your huge loss. I never met Dianne – and I wish I did – but from what I know from Marcus, she was a sweetheart, a fighter and a loving mother, and as such she should be fondly remembered and celebrated. Please accept my deepest condolences and know that I’m thinking of you all the time and you have my full support during this very difficult time.

Marcus, we are so very sorry for your loss. Even though we haven’t seen you for a few years, your Nanny Mills has always provided us with updates of your successes and I can just imagine how proud your mom was to have you as her son. Our sincere condolences to your Hanrahan and Mills families. Love, Aunt Audrey and Uncle Rick.

My deepest sympathies to Marcus and his family. I knew Dianne from Ottawa , my Son Vinnie hung around Marcus and went to school with him. I always remember her smiling and she was so kind and sweet . Marcus your tribute to your Mom on Facebook made me cry. She loved you so much that was obvious to anyone who knew her. It’s also clear in your tribute you felt the same about her. May you find comfort in knowing she is not suffering anymore and that she will forever be your angel watching over you. I am so sorry for your profound loss. May she rest in peace.

It’s so saddening to see the news of Dianne’s passing. She was the sweetest lady. I had many chats with her in passing in our work hallways, and at work social gatherings. I remember at one social, we got a good chuckle together as her short little self tried (successfully) climbing up onto the bar stool next to me.
Everyone had a lot of respect for her, she will be missed.
