Dear Valda, David, Evan & Taylor. Lynn and I are so sorry to hear of your Father/Grandfathers passing. We wish we could be there in person to comfort you all during this sad time. Please know you and all your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I enjoyed Don and his quick wittiness. Always made me feel like part of the Quinlan family. May you all find comfort in the great memories made during this sad time. Love you all so much!

I was privileged to be present with Patsy and the children on May 13 as Don, to use his quote from Tennyson’s “Crossing the Bar”, crossed over the bar. As Don lived his life, even his departure and obituary were done in his normal eloquent style.

Having known Don as a child and as a brother-in-law for many years, he was a good friend. He always had a joke to tell, and his memory amazed me. I looked forward to visiting him and Patsy in Tiffany and enjoyed our conversation. With Patsy’s help, he kept up on all the news, current and past. He would solve most of the puzzles that he and Patsy did daily.

We went to Bay-de-Verde, Christmas 2022 and although he had lost his sight by now, he knew every turn we made on the drive out and back. He stayed in the car all day as we drove around the plants in Old Perlican and Bay-de-Verde, stopping by Valda’s for lunch. Since Don found it difficult getting in and out of the car, Valda brought lunch out to the car for us.

I certainly never realized, at the time, that this would be his last trip around the bay, and neither did he.

But I have to say that through Don’s blindness and all his health issues, I never once heard him complain.

Don leaves a major gap behind and will certainly be missed by Patsy, the children and grandchildren. Occasionally I helped Patsy take Don out for doctors’ visits and “of course” he always insisted to go for fish and chips afterwards.

I miss you too Don, you will always be a tough act to follow.

Dear Valda, Dave, Evan, Taylor, and families. Our deepest sympathies to all of you for the loss of your dad and grandfather. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Patsy, & family, words cannot express how saddened we were when we heard of Don’s passing!!

I would love Don and Patsy’s visits at Crosbie Job. Such a wonderful, friendly man. Thinking of his family during this difficult time.

Met Don at MUN in the early 60’s. He was a few years older and more mature but witty and fun to talk to in that windowless lounge on the basement floor of the Arts building where the smokers went to have a draw and a gab between classes. Don loved to kid his younger brother, Wayne, when he attended a few years later.
