It is with heavy hearts, that our family announces the peaceful passing of Dorman Anderson (age 89), in the presence of his loving wife Rose on February 15, 2025.
Predeceased by his parents Charles and Delena (Bartlett) Anderson; brothers Alf, Gower, Job and Max.
Leaving to mourn his wife of 65 years, Rose (Pynn), daughter Karen (Shannon) and son Ian (Janice). He was so amazingly proud of his grandchildren Shawn (Hailey) and Erin (Brad). Also, a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorm, born May 14, 1935, grew up in L’Anse aux Meadows. He attended Mount Allison University in Sackville, NS. He spent most of his professional life in the health care system. First as a welfare officer in Labrador, Whitbourne Home for Boys, School for the Deaf, administrator of Harbour Lodge and Hoyles Home.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are welcome to attend Dorm’s funeral service at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at St. Augustine’s Church on Westerland Road. Interment to follow at the Anglican cemetery on Kenmount Rd. The funeral service will be available online from St. Augustine’s Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.
No flowers by request. Donations can be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or St. Augustine’s Church .

Mom and I only learned of Dorm’s passing yesterday through a mutual friend and neighbor. We were very sad to hear this news.
I have many memories of Dorm while growing up on Tobin Crescent and, of course, at St. Augustine’s Church. He was a devoted volunteer and such a kind man.
Rise, you were both such good friends and neighbors to Mom all those years on Tobin Crescent. It was and is greatly appreciated.
May you find peace in the love of family and strength in the caring words of friends.

When I got the news of uncle Dorm’s passing, I immediately pictured him sitting in conversation with his brothers in grandmother’s kitchen- I often wish I could go back there. The brothers are all together now and that somehow brings comfort and I hope it does the same for you.
