The family would like to thank all the doctors and nursing staff at the ICU, Health Sciences Centre, for their exceptional care and compassion.

Dad was a skilled tractor trailer driver and always said he could turn a truck on a dime. He was proud to drive in the Centennial Caravan in 1967 when the vehicles traveled across the country featuring exhibits that told “The Story of Canada.” Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be forever loved and greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to VOWR, his most favorite radio station that he used to listen to every day.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.

Unseen, unheard. Still loved, still missed and so very dear.”

Hilda and family I’m so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Doug was such a nice man full of laughs. I remember when I first meet Doug. I was a young boy living on Highland drive. One summer day while out playing I was in awe of the massive flatbed truck with a house on it as it came to its lot on my street. My dad and I once the house was all settled away walked down the street to meet who the people were that just made my day and a memory to last a lifetime. Thats where we met Doug and not long after Hilda. It wasn’t to long after that that Doug and Hilda became great friends with our family which led into many years of memories. Hilda, our thoughts and prayers are with you always, from myself, Christine and Holly.

Hilda & Summer’s Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your father’s and my cousin Doug’s passing.
I had always thought of Doug with fond memories.
Later and during our grown up lives, the only time we spent together was when meeting each other along the way. Then, as with David presently, when meeting, we had chatted about the times gone by, and about the Ryan and Summers family history.
