Obituary
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on January 19th, 2017, Edward Russell Janes, aged 66 years. Predeceased by his parents Hazel and Benjamin Janes; brothers Angus, Keith, Carl, Cecil, William, Junior, Hubert, and Harold; and sisters Diane and Verna. Left with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn; daughter Amanda (Kev) Stapleton; poppy’s little girl Gracie Paige; brothers Billy, Dereck, and Robert (Shelley); sisters Dorice (Doug) Chetman, Betty (Chris) Moran, Pearl (Paul) Blanchford, Linda (Henry) Reid, and Jaunita; brother-in-law Ed Walsh (Mary O’Leary); sisters-in-law Sheila Janes and Toni Janes; mother-in-law Agnes Collins (Phillip, deceased); brothers-in-law Clyde (Gwen) Collins, Norm (Agnes) Collins, Jake Collins (Diane Strickland), and Gary (Kate) Collins; sister-in-law Elizabeth (Bruce) Collins; special friends Vicki and Stan Smith, Jason, Myles, John, and Frankie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017 from 10 a.m – 9 p.m, and Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 from 10 a.m – 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Lawrence Anglican Church in Portugal Cove on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at 2 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in Russell’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Over the last two and a half years I have gotten the privilege to know Russ, he was always thinking of others . He would do anything for anyone and that showed each and everyday. The world is a sadder place today as he’s not here with us. But we all have fond memories with him, ones we can hold on to and cherish. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time.

Marilyn and family, I was so sad to hear of Russell’s passing. My heart goes out to all of you. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to see him last summer when I was home. Russell was a great guy and always had a great sense of humor.That’s what I remember most about him. And you always knew Russ was around because you heard him lol. He will be sadly missed. I was there and got to spend the last few hours with him. I would have lost that had it not been for Russ. Picking me up. I always thought of Russ and You Marilyn as my second parents and Amanda as my sister. I always felt at home when I was in your home. Your forever in my thoughts and prayer.
