Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving husband, Edwina Hutton (née Walsh).

Predeceased by her guardian angel Josephine; father Kevin; sister Joan; brother Bob; and brother-in-law Jack.

Leaving to mourn her devoted husband of 62 years Hubert Hutton; her four children David, Tonia, Rhonda (Des), and Hubie; along with her cherished grandchildren AJ and Adam. Also mourning her loss are her siblings Francis (Bob), Rosemary (Jim), Sharon, and Paul (Paul); her special friends Vicky Lynch, Edwina Harris, Paula Collingwood, Mike Power, and Eileen Hammond; her large extended family; in-laws; and many dear friends, all of whom will miss her deeply.

Edwina was vivacious, accomplished, and incredibly generous. She was a rock for her family and friends, providing unwavering support and love throughout her life. For 25 years, she was at the helm of Atlantic Business Magazine, where she excelled in her leadership role, building meaningful relationships with colleagues and employees alike.

A true sports enthusiast, Edwina played basketball, figure skated, enjoyed tennis and of course hockey. She was often seen in the stands, ever the supportive hockey wife, Mom and Grammy. Though she would admit she couldn’t carry a tune, she loved music and especially Hubert whistling her favorites. Her love for Hubert was boundless, her partner in both work and life. She was fiercely proud of her children and they of her.

The Hutton family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Edwina’s caregivers, whose kindness and companionship she greatly appreciated. To Dr. Dick Barter for his guidance and support and to Rosemary and Sharon who stood vigil every Monday and Wednesday.

Edwina lived a life filled with passion—she loved fiercely, danced joyfully, and was an exceptional cook and gardener. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, September 16 from 12 noon – 2 p.m. and 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from the Basilica, on Tuesday, September 17 at 11 a.m. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.

David, My condolences on the loss of your mom. Please take some comfort from the good thought I’m having for you.

Aunt Edwina will absolutely be missed by those who knew her. When I was younger she always had an interest in my sports and how I was doing and that transitioned into how both my daughter and I are doing. She always asked about my daughter. It made me feel very good inside.
I remember seeing Aunt Edwina hard at work at the office for Atlantic Business Magazine but always making time to engage and see how I was doing. Caring for others was something embedded deep within her and certainly was a part of her.
To Uncle Hubert, Hubie, Rhonda, Tonia and David, I want to offer my sincere condolences to you on your loss as Aunt Edwina was absolutely a shining jewel and her memory will continue to shine for us all.

Dear Hubert snd Family,
My thoughts and hugs go out to you all. Your wife/ mother was such a vibrant woman , both in business and personality. My memories of Edwina are either playing tennis or walking/ running the Rennies River Trails.: Fit and Fast and Family oriented and kind.

Be so very kind to yourselves as well.

Dear Tonia, Rhonda, David, Hubie. & Hubert~~

I was saddened to learn of the loss of your Mom, and my very dear friend. I have known your parents since the very early sixties., before any of you were born. She was the greatest friend, and we would have fun times together whenever I would travel back to St. John’s. Unfortunately, that was not often but when I did go, we would continue right where we left off on the previous visit. I have always had great admiration and respect for her as a lady & my friend.. She was one of a kind, and I know she will be dearly missed by everyone.

Sincerest condolences,🙏🏻
