Elizabeth (Betty) Coady

March 30, 2020

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say our last goodbyes to our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Elizabeth (Betty) Coady (nee Bonia) on Monday, March 30, 2020, at the age of 84 years.

It was a comfort to all her family that she was surrounded by her son, Pat, her daughter, Kim, and sister-in-law, Madonna, at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence as she passed away.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Pat, her grandson Joe, her sister Verna, and brothers Ray, Al (Junior), and Hughie.

She will be sadly missed. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her children Pat (Siobhan), Steve (Tish), Paula (Denis), Al (Paola), and Kim (Rob); grandchildren Christina (Chris), Stephanie (Gaël), Laurie (Maëlick), Steven (Annaïck), Michael, Peter, Joseph, Isabel, Patrick, Matthew and Brook; great-grandchildren Mano, Zaho and Jahli; sisters Bernice and Carmie, brother John (Pearl), sister-in-law Madonna, brother-in-law Jimmy, her large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins, and all her friends. A very special mention to our aunt, mom’s sister-in-law, Madonna Bonia, whose friendship and support was unwavering.

The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to all the staff and community at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence, with a special thank you to the wonderful nursing and support staff who cared for our mother over the last three years.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Community Food Sharing Association (https://www.cfsa.nf.net/).

Crossing the Bar

(Alfred Lord Tennyson)

Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

It was so very sad to hear of Betty’s passing. I am so glad that I went to the Mews centre and met Betty, right from the first time we met, we clicked. I loved her sense of humor , we shared lots of laughs over the years. She was also very kind and caring . After her fall a few years ago,,I really missed her and began visiting her at Kenny’s Pond Home. I looked forward to our visits and also got to know Donna, her fabulous sister in law.. although I will miss Betty dearly, I am so happy she was in my life. My husband Dan sends along his condolences also. What a great lady she was, I loved her.
