Rice, Elsie Ethel (Vaughan)

Sept 12, 1929 – Sept 9, 2022 in her 93rd year, passed peacefully away at home.  Predeceased by her husband John in 1989.  She was the youngest and the last of her family.  Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories her son Wayne and daughter in Law Mary, with whom she resided.  A large circle of nieces and nephews, special niece Glenda Hiscock and special nephew Rick Vaughan.

Elsie was the most loving compassionate family orientated person that you could have met.  She touched the hearts of all whose path she crossed.  Elsie was well known to Wayne & Mary’s friends, enjoying their company and good times together.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Home Care Team for their kindness and caring to mom.  Helping us keep her home to the end of her journey.

Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road, from 4 – 9 pm on Monday, Sept. 12 and 4 – 9 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022.  Funeral Service will take place from The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 2 pm.  Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Topsail Road.

Very sorry for the loss your Mom. I remember Elsie from my days as a child dropping into the store on Old Penny well road and through the times I met here at family events in her elder years. She was such a sweet lady.
May Elsie rest in peace in heaven.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Aunt Elsie’s passing.. I remember a kind, beautiful and gentle lady who always brightened the room with the warmest smile. Wayne and Mary, we were so sad to hear of Aunt Elsie’s passing. I have so many beautiful memories of your sweet, loving mother from my childhood. From her drawing eyes on my doll, helping me cross the street to go see Aunt Violet and Uncle Ches, laughing with me and just plain loving me. She was a truly blessing to all who knew her!

Sorry to hear about Mrs Rice. A loss of a Mum is a loss all in it’s own. No matter how old it’s still your Mum. {my own Mum was 94yrs} Wayne and Mary, you are special people, you certainly were devoted to Mrs Rice.

Wayne and Mary. So sad and so sorry about the loss of your mom. I can’t remember a party or get together without her. She made those parties rock! Your mom was so much fun to be around. She was always interested in what was going in our lives. And she loved when the younger ones visited. Always took time to enjoy them. My two kids (Donovan and Carmen), now grown, still have fond memories when we would pop by for a visit. We will all miss her. Thank you for sharing her with us!
