Eric Field

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Eric Field at the age of 86 on April 14, 2025, at Pleasant View Towers surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents, Gordon & Elizabeth Field; his brothers, Robert & Gordon Field (Winnie); his sisters Margorie Hendricks (Bob), Millicent Taylor (Wayne) & Audrey Dowden (Allan); brothers-in-law Kevin & Teddy O’Grady; sister-in-law Judy Shaw.

Eric leaves to mourn his beloved wife and soulmate of 61 years Elizabeth; sons Darrell and Keith (Renee); daughter Wendy; grandchildren Nicholas & Ashley Field, Danielle Watson (Trevor), Brett Jackson, Sophia & Claire Field; great grand children Oliver & Eli Watson; brother in-law Ron Shaw & many nieces and nephews.

Eric was born and raised in the east end of St. John’s. In his early years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and a boil up in the woods. Eric worked in Management at Standard Manufacturing (Matchless Paints) for 34 years. Upon retirement Eric enjoyed the simple pleasure in life. He enjoyed walking around Quidi Vidi Lake and stopping into The Royal Canadian Legion on The Boulevard for a pint. Every morning, he would pick up a coffee and muffin at Tim Hortons and do one of two things. Either sit down by the lake and watch the birds or drive up to Signal Hill and look out over the narrows enjoying the scenery.

Cremation has taken place. Per Eric’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.

The Family would like to express our deep appreciation to the staff at Pleasant View Towers for their compassion to Eric over the past nine months. Special mention to Cathy & Jess.
