The Hodder Family. Deepest condolences on the passing of Eric, a more caring and considerate Gentleman you could not find. We both met him more than fifty years ago, through his friendship with Mac and Ethel Frampton, my Wife’s Sister and Brother in Law. This was renewed many years later at Gower Street United Church, where Eric contributed so much, in many ways to The Church. God Bless.

The Hodder family,
I was saddened to read this news of Eric’s passing. We met through the Anchormen Barbershop Chorus. For many of their shows, Eric sat quietly while I did his makeup for the show. He never once complained. Just sat and smiled at me. Such a beautiful, quiet and gentle man. God has another voice for his barbershop chorus. Rest in peace my friend.

Eric Hodder was definitely a true gentleman in every way.. he gave me my first job back in the 60s, a summers work at the Bennett Brewery Company on Water Street. I lived with Eric and his family for approximately six weeks. Eric was a super cook.
He loved to visit Victoria Cove and every conversation I did have with him was “what’s the news from Victoria Cove and how is everyone doing”.
Our sincere condolences to all the family, find peace in your fond memories of him.
R.I..P our good friend Eric.

To the Family of Eric,
Condolences from all of the members of the Newfoundland Cardiac Rehabilitation Association. Eric was a member of the group for many years, a true gentleman for sure.

To the Hodder Family,

Our families deepest condolences on the loss of your Dad. While I have not seen Eric in a number of years, we all. have great memories of what a fine gentleman and great friend he was to our late father, Tommy Williams. Eric and Dad developed a close friendship through their work at the Public Utilities Board and both enjoyed a hackers round of golf at J. Parker’s 9 hole course and then usually a cold refreshment immediately after. If memory serves me correct , they even travelled to Florida one year in the early 90’s to try a few of the bigger courses. They both enjoyed each other’s company and shared many a laugh. I am sure your family will take comfort in the many treasured memories you have of the wonderful man.

Eric Hodder was one of the finest gentlemen to grace our planet. He had many talents and used them all to make our world a better and kinder place. However, we also remember Eric’s personal attributes. He had an abundance of empathy, compassion, decency and respect for his fellowmen which he displayed in his own quiet, humble manner – never seeking recognition. Our hearts are with Valerie, Ian, Carolyn, Keith and Randy and their families as they mourn this tremendous loss. We send our love and sympathy to all of you. Justin and Flo
